You're right, hence the ugh. Although we desperately need some creativity or at least a decent system offensively, one can see how far Carlisle went with defense with a less talented team. I think he would be a good candidate, so would Silas, but it doesn't sound like we'll get either. ahhhhhhhh As a coach, Dunleavy is probably the worst option--Brown, JVG, Silas, Carlisle, and then.......Dunleavy.
Great post. I think we are in a sense settling if we go with Dunleavy. The guy seems to be a good coach, but not someone we want to stick with the next 5 years or so. Who knows..... Maybe we win a ring in 3 years, and nobody cares.
I love this quote in the Chronicle: "Dunleavy and his agent Warren LeGarie, have openly called the Rockets' opening the right job for Dunleavy. "We're not here to control the process," LeGarie said. "We just want to be part of the process. Mike just wants to do the job. He doesn't want to politic. He doesn't want to control everything. He just wants to coach , and he wants to win." Has he learned his lesson? Yoohoo - that's why you got fired from LA and Portland. A strong GM says "here you go Mike", He says "thank you sir, can I have another".... and whatcha know, you're out the door. There is no strong coach that does not have some say in personnel decisions. It doesn't mean you have to be the GM but making this type of statement before you even see your players is weak. If your GM is screwing you over, take a stand. If not, the players certainly won't respect you.
