Wait a second, so we're using an AMERICAN made movie about an AMERICAN in the 80's as justification/proof now?

That commie method was so successful that former Soviet Union and East Germany dominated the Olympic games for decades! And that commie method still delivered more than 70 golds to Russian and Chinese during the Sydney Olympic game, much more than the gold Americans won.
It is a different method, not quite scientific, but can be quite effective.

Chinese basketball coaches are indeed somewhat lacking behind in their training methods. I think that is generally accepted as true. Not that the other sports' training methods are out-dated though.

Rick Bucher has a bad case of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. It's something that Americans have caught over the last 20 years; a need for constant entertainment. Earth to Bucher!!! Rudimentary pratice is not meant to entertain YOU! Go home!

Hmmmmm, could this be a reason for the training, practice, and fundaments lacking in US basketball?

While it's true that China's strength training is lacking, their practice regimen is not lacking.

    Exactly!

In a world of spoiled McGradys, Iversons, and Kobes.

Seems like Bucher is advocating the spoiled brat persona...

    Read this...

Mentioning about Yao Ming, Bucher said the following: "In the NBA, coaches always maintain communication with their star players; the star players thus have a sense of team belongingness and their sense of responsibility will be greatly enhanced. Per my observations, Yao Ming is just plain honest here; he complies to what he is asked to do by the coaches."

Sorry Bucher. But the last thing we need is another arrogant "playa." Yao is a TEAM player.

the chinese trainers need to learn that you don't get in the best shape by just running yourself into the ground. look at david boston...i know the guy is a freak about his nutrition but he also carefully designs his training methods so he can get the most benefit out of it in the game. also...look at weightlifting in general...you don't get the strongest by lifting as much weight as you can for as long as you can. you get stronger thru training by periodization and letting your muscles rest and changing the workloads on them.

i dunno...but the bottom line is the chinese need to change their training methods.

Did they translate Bucher's quotes to Chinese and then back to English again. I think even Bucher has a better command of the English language than that.
