I don't get the Mavs love at all. I'm not even a Mavs hater like many of you guys are. So I'm pretty unbiased. I also think the Pelicans and Nuggets are being underrated.

Yeah I agree we need that bad but with Ariza I feel we are naturally a better defensive team plus the players we picked up like Dorsey, Adrien, Nick Johnson, hopefully getting Garcia those guys put the effort in to be D and you have athleticism and strength in that group outside Garcia who is a tough veteran. We did lose play makers on offense but we gained toughness and better three point shooting with Ariza and you count getting Daniels and Garcia back.

It's worth remembering that we started last season 5 wins and 6 losses. From there, we went 49-22 (which is 56-57 win pace).

Adding a 'major piece' will always result in teething problems early. No doubt adding Dwight affected us early in last season, figuring out how to get the most of things. Take away that early stretch, and we're a 55+ win team.

I realize the team looks 'thin' on paper, but any team with 2 bona fide 'best in position' players is a top 4 seed. We managed it last season, despite teething issues, tantrums, and turnovers. One would be crazy to think that, because we got better defensively, we'll be a worse team this season....

Dadgum, Parsons is good. The Mavs add a broken down Ty Chandler (over/under anyone on whether he plays more games for Mavs next season than Omer did for Rox last year???) and a Ray 'Elite' Felton for Calderon, who can actually play, while losing Samuel D (meh) as well as VC and The Trix, but with our pretty boy they go from getting into the playoffs the last week to challenging for home court?

So, Parsons and Carlisle = wunderbar. Speaking of that, anyone taking bets on the season's improvement, or even matching, that Dirk will bring to the new year v the previous?

Don't get it either. I also think the Pels may make some noise.

Well pairing Dirk and Parsons brings a lot of people back to their childhood days when they loved so hard on Mchale and Bird... that's what this is really about but they will quickly see Dallas is hype. Their team reminds me of poor man's Boston Celtic glory day team without defense and toughness.

I think the love for the Mavs & Grizz is that they hopefully have Dirk & Gasol for a whole season. It'll also remain to be seen if Portland can get off to the same fast start as last year & stay healthy all year again. I like the overall rebounding (Adrien & Dorsey) scoring (Dmo & Daniels) from our bench this year.

Looks like the Rockets will be leave out of the Xmas game this year.

So far known Xmas matchup :

    For sure :
    Wash @ NYK
    OKC @ SAS
    Cavs @ Heat

    Rumor :
    Lakers @ Bulls

    That leave last one :

    Clippers V ??

most likely will be Blazers or GSW - both Pacific time zone and fit the late game schedule.
