If Harden and Howard will not get you 50 wins, you should fire your coach and GM right away.

    It is very rational.

And it's based on rosters as of today...not what we're going to look like come November 1. A trade or two changes all that. But right now.....we're looking at a starting 5 of Bev/Harden/Ariza/Dwight/whoever....with Asik and Lin and Parsons gone replaced by Dorsey, Adrien, KPap, and Ariza.

Last season Memphis fell down because Gasol was injured for a good chunk of the season. Otherwise they would have pushed us down to 6th or 7th. Now this year Parsons is in Dallas. They're improved. And we've lost talent. I would put us at 7th or 8th if we had to play today with one signifcant injury out of the playoffs altogether. And I'm about as homey as you get.

But....I fully expect this roster to look different come November 1.

I don't know why people keep saying Asik didn't show up last year. His stats were dead equal with his production the year before. Opponent's FG% at the rim was virtually the same, his rebounding rate, defensive rating, etc.

He was as close as you can get to being the exact same player statistically as the year before.

Replacing Lin's offense off the bench is the only challenge I see that could prevent this team from winning as many games as last season. Losing Asik is a non-factor considering he was injured or crying most of the season save the last 8 games or so.

If any of the bench players can provide 12 points off the bench consistently then the team essentially loses no offense while bringing out an improved defense.

I was thinking that if Harden and Howard can't get you to 50 wins, we need to replace them.

    Read my signature.

If McHale can make Howard and Harden play P&R all game long. Yes 50 wins is actually pretty easy.

Dallas lost Caulderon, Marion, and Carter.

I don't see them being improved at all.

How in the world you will believe adding Kaman is an improvement for any teams in this league? As for Blake, he showed nothing left in a winning team when he was traded to GS last year.

Doesn't look irrational to me. Essentially tied for 6th. Essentially 2.5 games back from last season. The West is tough. I believe this could happen. Of course, even a couple of games in either direction changes seeding a lot.

If anything, they're far too bullish on the Mavs. The Chandlers are going to do all that?

Totally agree, to say nothing of an older Dirk, but most people see Parsons + two corpses from the Knicks as an upgrade. We will see.

If T-Jones makes that 3rd Year Leap and Ariza stays consistent with Howard finally being 100% and Harden improving Rockets can be a 3rd Seed honestly

The only concern is the Bench tbh

I think it's funny when posters do the thing where when they talk about other teams they make it seem like they didn't lose anything and only gained. Then when they talk about Houston it's as if they only lost things and didn't gain anything.

They traded Calderon for Tyson Chandler.

They signed Devin Harris as replacement.

They lost Marion and Carter, but signed Parsons and Richard Jefferson.

    They are upgraded.

I hate Mavs as much as you, but you need to be logical and not overlook your enemy.

So last season when Asik was out majority of the time during the regular season, were the Rockets fell through the bottom in the west?

How much offense you will miss Lin for this team that Daniel / Johnson / Cannan can not provide?

Oh in case you want to talk about bench, how much Brewer or even Trashpi or even Cisco done last year that you think Papa, Adrien, Daniel, or even freaking "GEE" can not provide?

Well, to BSPN's credit, they just have the top three teams (and most of us agree on those) separated from a blob of teams that are all within 49-51 wins. The Rox are part of the blob, and most of us agree with that assessment as well. But some of us think we're on the better part of the blob.
