If that's the case then Paul Allen's been fighting that battle for the past 15 years now.

Wow damn...talk about a knee jerk signing..i guess one playoff win is all it takes to earn 21 mil in the NBA these days.

If I step on the court for the Blazers and manage 2 points, I wonder if I can get a 10 day contract?

This is their backup plan in case Greg Oden doesn't pan out. I mean...the jury is STILL out on the guy despite playing a full 82 games...over a two year time span.

This is not a surprise to me. Any good GM would see Camby as an upgrade from Prizbilla but now they have a good trade chip if Priz gets healthy again, and a good Center if Oden goes down again or has to work his way back for half the season.

I still believe our best bet at a decent backup/replacement at Center is through the draft. But if a deal comes on to grab a one year backup Veteran like Brad Miller or Eric Dampier, then I say grab him for a decent price but a 20 million contract on a Center like Camby is out of the question IMO. But now Prizbillla could be a good cheap option for next year if he is healthy of course.

They could do both, the vet and the drafted center.

Or or you could just have a killer pre-season and get a 6 year 42 million extension like some dude who had stones for hands.

I don't disagree with the signing but +10 mil annually for an over the hill centre...? They probably could've got him to agree to a 7-8mil/yr extension...talk about jacking up the asking price for centres...maybe Yao should opt out this summer. ;)

So much for signing Camby with the bi annual exception lol. Camby should be all over that deal.

This can be a bad market price setter for guys like Brad Miller even.

That money is long gone. You will be paid back in diamond chains and a nasty purplish/brown/puke green color changing Navigator.

Have they given up on Greg Oden? Why would they carry 3 centers? Pryz does have an early termination option, maybe we can get him on the cheap.

2years/21 millions is ridiculous. Camby probably didn't even have to think when he was offered that.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Marcus Camby has signed a two-year contract extension with the Portland Trail Blazers.

Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed Tuesday.

The 6-11, 235-pound center was acquired from the Los Angeles Clippers on Feb. 16 in exchange for Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake. He started 23 regular season games for the Trail Blazers, reinforcing a position depleted by injuries to Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla.

Portland went 17-6 with Camby in the lineup, and the 36-year-old grabbed 17 rebounds Sunday as the Trail Blazers beat Phoenix in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series.

In a statement, general manager Kevin Pritchard said Camby has been a "great fit for us."
