...and it seems the bad call are DECREASING!!! In past seasons, if a player drives the hoop and jumped into Yao, that was an automatic foul against Yao no matter what he did. I remember one call that Yao was moving backwards (not fast enough) just to get out of the way and still got a foul. If Yao jumped AT ALL, it was an automatic foul. This season, they are letting Yao hold his ground and even jump straight up and down. If Yao's arms don't come down, then it's a no call. They've been pretty consistently good on that this season. I think that is why Yao's BPG have increased.
On the moving screens, it rarely gets called in the NBA, period. So it's not actually a bias in Yao's favor or anything. Everyone else gets away with it too. The problem with officials is that some simply do not let Yao operate on offense. That is, give Yao the good Shaq-bias and let him get away with being aggressive down low. That has been getting better over the years. I watched that replay of Howard run into Yao 10 times, and for the life of me I can't see how anyone can construe that as a foul. I can almost(emphasis on almost) swallow a flop against Yao or non-calls against hacking him, but that call right there can't possibly happen on the high school level, much less the NBA.
Not sure what you mean by "get in the way of offensive players". Should he just move away and clear a path for the offensive players? "Yao uses his size a lot to screen for his teammates". Anything wrong with that? Should Yao try to shrink his size? Or would you rather have a 5'5 player on the court to set screen for his teammates, since a 5'5 guy won't be able to use his size? Now I understand why there are so many BS calls on Yao. The refs must have been from people like you.
Support! This video (if available) should be made public. That will help the refs to think twice next time before they are going to make a bad call. Seriously, whats with this Mr. v3.0? He seems really into something. These kind of threads he used against the so call "YOFs" are becoming annoying too, sometimes, even made him worse than "YOFs". Both pls get a life. Appreciate the game first.
Yes, this would be hilarious. Make a commercial with Yao getting out of bed and have a ref there calling a foul on him (for 3 seconds in the lane). Then show that he is peaking out of a shower curtain to check to see if the refs are around, when he feels safe enough to step out of the shower and in the process of wiping the fog off his mirror and he sees a ref standing behind him blowing a whistle for "taunting/waving his hand". He then gets into his car to drive off, a ref pulls him over for "travelling". If someone can make a clip like this similar to jibjab, I would contribute money to get the clip to air during the superbowl commercial breaks.
The really bad part is that the bad calls on Yao go on to infect the refs calls for the rest of the game. You get a garbage call on the other team as a make up and then things snowball from there.
