Francis, Did you not read my post? No I did NOT see the game, I was working! And I will say it right now. No I'm not a good speller. But physiologists have confirmed that the truly brilliant are notoriously poor spellers.
Francis3 & Rocketball-chill... Drew has had some good games taking over for francis while he is out. Until he proves he can do it consistently the judgement is still on him. Perhaps Drew is like stockton and grows slowly compared to Mobley. On the other hand, he can just be having the one time thing like maloney. Who knows? Time will tell...
We definitely need a veteran point guard, we don't need two learning point guards to play point. Besides, we destroyed the Suns already during the first game, and my prediction is they are gonna lose the next game to the Rocks. We took them off guard, showed them our real power and now we actaully beat them twice in a row, they got bailed out by the refs in the first game, they know they suck compare to us. The point is, Jason Kidd and Googs are not playing like they are capable of, we implanted fear in their hearts since the first game, so Drew capitalized this shadow and shined temporarily, not much but enough to make me stop calling him a scrub. Ok he is not a scrub but he hasn't proved him worth the 16th pick yet.
I forgot he was the 16th pick. **** what a waist of a pick. We could of have better than him. Wasnt Jacque Vaughn in that draft? That boy can play. Or we should of just drafted Rashard Lewis. Then we wouldnt have trouble with the sf position.
I think its beautiful to watch Drew and Cuttino on the floor together. They take turns with the point guard duties and with Drew's nearly automatic catch-n-shoot, they are a deadly combination. I'd venture to say that a combination of Francis and Drew would be just as deadly as they compliment each other in a similar manner as Cuttino and Drew. I enjoyed watching Drew tonight. He's getting cocky out there. This team isn't better without Francis. Their shots are just falling now and Shandon is really stepping it up. When Steve gets back, all we have to do is keep running and gunning, making the extra pass and Shandon has to keep posting up. I don't remember him commanding the ball as much when Francis was around. Also, Rudy ought to post up Shandon at leas 5-10 times a game so the guy can get going. Of course this is all starting with defense. Go Rockets!!!!
Wait a minute.. Then what the hell was Mirsad Turkan.. Fine.. PICK DREW, But again pass up Rashard Lewis.
mc mark-- It seems to me Rudy isn't the only person infatuated with Drew. Every game I see on Direct TV through the other team's network, I get to hear the other team's announcers rave about Drew's skills. It seems the league thinks he is "the second coming of Mark Price." It's just gonna take a little time. I have felt since last season that Drew will get better. Now that we have Francis he may get better to the point we have to consider trading him. He'll either be to expensive to keep or other teams will covet him too much. I've said it before, at the risk of looking stupid: If Drew beleives in himself, he will be a starter in this league. Hey, how did ya'll like his handles tonight?
Lewis hasn't done **** yet, what are you talking about. Give credit where it is due. By the way I don't buy into Rocketball statements about him being a good backup point just yet. But he has showed this game and last that he is capable of it.
Rudy will cry over the fact he didnt pick Rashard Lewis. Rashard cant get any playing time or alot of shots because he is on seattle. But this Kid will be something. Watch.. This year when they had that rookie team thing, I forgot the name of that tournament, You guys know what im saying. Well Rashard Lewis was the leading scorer of the tournament. He averaged 24 points a game. A player from High School to the NBA, Has to have skills. And Rashard will show it off..
Jeffb I said this a while back, and I still believe it, but in a few years I truely think Drew will be the second coming of Stockton. (Just without the bad habits.) Laugh while you can monkey boys! He's a shooter, shooters needs a groove. [This message has been edited by mc mark (edited December 05, 1999).] [This message has been edited by mc mark (edited December 05, 1999).]
JeffB: Excellent point! I think at this moment in time, it may be premature, but if Drew continues to develop, it will be an issue. This is exactly how I feel about Cat Mobley. Rudy needs to make a decision. Either move Shandon to the small forward, and start Cuttino, or trade the Cat for a young small forward. He will not come off the bench after this season. He is too good, and too many teams will go after him with open pocketbooks. [This message has been edited by thacabbage (edited December 05, 1999).]
mc mark-- I hear you. I said the same thing the first time I visited this site and sufferd the concequences of doing so. I opted to shut up about it until Drew started to come around.
I hereby apologize to "bryce is HOT," eat my crow, and urge my fellow Drew hecklers to do the same. Bryce, the bench is so cold without you!
Cabbage, I agree with you totally. I haven't spared Mobley from criticism, and I have said in the past that Mobley's ultimate sucess will hinge upon his jump shot reaching consistency. On Drew I pointed at turnovers, and so far 18 games into the season both seem to have conquered those demons. It's looking up for these two, but I am a little uncomfortable with a Drew to Stockton comparison, especially with no room for a Stocton on this team with out point guard for the future being Francis.
Drew will become the next stockton.. That is soo funny. hehehe ONE GOOD GAME AND HE IS JOHN STOCKTON!!! I hope he does become like John Stockton. Drew is just too young right now, I still want a veteran pg. I think Francis should have someone helping him out. Drew has alot of years left in him. He will be playing till probably what 38. So that means he is 11 now. 38.. He has 27 years of playing left.
Bryce Drew is showing marked improvement.I must say that Hardaway controlled the ball alot tonight.I thought the Suns made a mistake by not putting it in Kidd's hands more....Just an observation, but I digress.Drew is showing the ability to control tempo.I still like him more as a 2.I thought he would get torched tonight.Crow never tasted so good.Rocketball,I initially liked the pick when we made it and then soured quickly as you know.He really has done a good job this past week and if he plays like this on a consistent basis(he seems to be gaining in confidence),should be a keeper.Like I said I'm getting ready to cook that crow. How should I cook it?barbecue...fried....boiled???or just eat it plain raw... Seriously though, isn't it weird that Dream goes down for 4-6wks.(just what we needed to open Rudy's eyes and get Cato on the floor more and open it up)Stevie goes down for 3 games(just enough for Shandon to force Rudy's hand and draw some plays for him now.)Time also for Bryce to get achance to feel more comfortable out there?God works in mysterious ways.By the time Dream comes back and moves away from the bucket to pop 10-15 footers, set high picks, and play great defense,we should be in a position to make a good run.He will be rested and it should finally be obvious to he and Rudy that our best chance for success is for him not to get the ball so much in the post. Also the playing time Kenny Thomas is getting can only help later also.He really is showing us those skills that both the Lakers and the Rockets liked.I thought he would have a problem getting his shots off in the NBA,but even though he has problems finishing once in awhile, his all around game has impressed me big time. All in all,we have a bright future and should make some noise down the road this year. GO ROCKETS! HH This team still needs some minor tweaking(namely a 3),but now that Rudy has the evidence staring him in the face,we should start racking up W's........Blessings in disguise.......wow.. Francis, I'm going to use one of your own lines. "Have you been watching the games"? I've been watching Drew for two years now. My analysis of him goes back more than one game. [This message has been edited by mc mark (edited December 05, 1999).]
