watching Sports Center right now; freakin greg anthony was like "this is ridiculous! Kobe is a great player and he isn't a dirty player! Kobe doesn't have a bad history!". freakin Greg Anthony is defending his boy Kobe like a b!tch.. I guess Kobe is the media's pet and he always gets all the love from ESPN!! or it might be that Greg Anthony was threatened by the rapist!!
Maybe cause Greg Anthony is right? What bad/dirty-playing history does he have? You're going nuts about nothing..
sorry guys, i don't see this as an intentional foul. do you really think kobe is trying to intentionally hurt someone in the waining seconds of a tied game?!?!?! i detest kobe to very core, but he shouldn't have been suspended for this. it was inadvertent contact in his process of coming down from a shot he just had blocked. it looked like to me he was trying to draw a foul on the original shot, but that doesn't mean he should be suspended. if we are going to be suspending players for flops or attempts to draw fouls, ginobilli would never be allowed to step foot in an nba arena for the rest of his natural-born life.
If you look at the game time footage (I couldn't find it on youtube), you can see Kobe start to walk off and then he does go check on Ginobili when he sees that he is still on the ground. He even pats him on the face. I saw this during the game and on the ESPN replays. When they show Ginobili on the ground surrounded by Spurs players, you see Kobe lean in to check on him. Just catch the replay next time as I'm sure they will be talking about this all day.
Yes. Kobe shouldn't be suspended. How awful. No team deserves to lose their star player.... Yep. Feel bad for the Lakers. Shame they won't have Kobe. Sure hope they win without him.
That sure as hell was intentional. Kobe never swings his arm that far away from him after taking a jumper. Look at any video of him. He might not have a history but that was intentional, plain and simple. At least Ginobili was the victim...
I think the suspension is ridiculous. I doubt anyone saw it coming. The reaction (or lack thereof) by the Spurs speaks volumes to me because it happened right in front of their bench. Pop is probably glad to see another player besides Bowen getting singled out by the league.
First find a video where he's being blocked from the side and behind while attempting the game winning shot with under 2 seconds left, in a situation where he wants to hold the other team off from grabbing the ball and calling a timeout to potentially win the game. I bet in that video, he does swing his arm out. And it was "intentional"...but not meant to pound ginobili in the face or hurt him. Shoot, if a box-out was for some reason targeted at the face in some weird situation, it could hurt too.
Man...why is everyone always hating on Kobe? Yes, he flailed his arm out, but so do half of the other "star" players in the league. It has been shown many times. I mean, Dirk, Ginobili, and Raja are known notorious floppers...in increasing frequency. Why don't people hate Wade? It's been shown so many times this year that he just slipped and "fell" and it was called a foul. It's understanding though, when you are considered the best player in the world, you are bound to have some haters. Plus, since when do Rockets fans give a crap about San Antonio? Don't we all hate Ginobili? So why are we complaining...? Either way, I don't think it was intentional - watch the clip again, he went over and tapped him on the head right away after the play. If someone was trying to hurt someone, when is the last time you saw them go and say "you ok?"
Anyone have a YouTube of Ginobli's FLOPS? That would be awesome. Kobe deserved this suspension. He swung on purpose.
Smack that, all on the floor Smack that, till you get sour Smack that, let me get some more Smack that, IM SUSPENDED!
I dislike Kobe as much as any, and no one should act shocked that people don't like him. He is a smug ass who walks around with a sense of entitlement that no one can appreciate. Thats true no matter how you weight in on what happened in Colorado. So now more of this "whats everyone got against Kobe?" crap, its stupid. Because you've choosen to ignore someone's flaws doesn't mean the rest of the world should follow suit. The truth here is that what happened after Kobe's jumpshot was not a natural basketball action. It was not a followthrough on a jumper, it wasn't grasping for a loose ball. Kobe even kicks his leg out a bit to get momenteum on his little swing. That being said it is hard to judge exactly what the intent of play was. The fact that Ginobili wasn't hit with a closed fist or really anything like that from a stationary player should mean that this play should not have resulted in a suspension. If the league really did believe there was malicious intent, the worse that should have happened was a moderate fine.
It's win-win, but the news of this makes me think about that dirty sob Karl Malone and what he's gotten away with in the past...
