He was also 9/10 from the FT line, which translates to 5 more shots from the field, so he really got 50 points on 46 shots and hit 17+4.5=21.5 of them. Also consider he hit 7/15 3pt FGs (7 additional points), which is like hitting 3.5 additional shots. So add 3.5+21.5 = 25/46 (54.3%) 2pt FG equivalents. Not bad efficiency. The game before, against the Sixers, Kobe was a sick 7/7 from 3pt.

Right now, Kobe is the MVP leader with only AI & LeBron in the same room. I hate to admit it.

everyone that is saying 17 of 41 is not impressive need to be quiet because you didnt watch the game.. .STATS cant tell crap.. and stats definately do not tell all. .
If you watched the game you would see how Kobe made the lakers win all by him self.. he REALLY BOUGHT THE TEAM BACK .. there was nothing the clippers could do. they threw two to 3 defenders at him and he still made shot after shot.. it was his 2 for 10 in the first half that cause his ugly shooting statline.. so what was kobe suppose to do.. say "damn i shooting so bad i should stop and pass to my crappy team mates?" NOPE he TURNED THINGS AROUND . and shot 50% in the 2nd half.. and this is making me sick cuz im defending kobe.. and i dislike him as a person quite a lot. .but damn he' is definately one of the best if not the best player in the league now. and ODOM just sucks because hE SUCKS.. if u watched the game again or any Laker game/ he sucks because he just cant hit any shots.. kobe does give him a lot of wide open shots nad he just bricks them one after another.. kinda like Ryan Bowen.... dunno what happened to odom he has decent stats but his shot is gone

like i said in the above post.. i agree with you 40 shots is a crap load. .but if he didnt do it the lakers would of lost.. kobe shot poorly in the first half but in the 2nd half he did shoot around 50% if i remember correctly..
Again you had to watch that particular game to see what Kobe did.. and i think in that case it was fine.. becaue it was the ONLY! way the lakers could of won last night.. so if the Rockets were down by 13 and it Tmac had to shoot 30 shots in the 2nd half to win the game becuase his team mates all suck, then IM ALL FOR IT!!!
Just so long as we get the win watever works works! and in the case for the game last night was Kobe needed to take 40 shots to win

Wow, some of you guys just totally ignore the real world for a little bit.

First you guys were simply b****ing about Kobe shooting 30 times a game...how horrific.

TMac in his recent 5 game offensive explosion has averaged almost 28 shots per game. And is shooting 44 percent.

Kobe has his team at .500. And NO ONE can tell me that the Lakers are MORE stacked then even our injury plagued Rox team. Anyone want to remind me of the Rox record.

I love TMAC too, but get off of Kobe's sac. Id rather have TMAC, I love TMACs game but really Kobe is doing just fine.

LOL, Kobe haters just try to find anything possible to trash him.

Kobe scored 63 in three quarters, team won, but they said he had no assists.
Kobe scored 50, team won again, but they said he took 41 shots.

Kobe can't do nothing right, period.

30 to 40 shot attempts per game is NOT healthy for team chemistry.

I am official Kobe Hater but i have to admit Kobe is better than T-Mac.

Skill wise, talent wise, shooting, ball handler, passing, defense etc etc I think both T-mac and Kobe is at the same level. But what i think separate Kobe and T-mac are: Physical and mentality.

Physical - Kobe has a better build. T-mac's lower looks very skinny plus at 26 T-mac already has back problem which will slow him down.

Mentality - Kobe is jerk, punk and big ego but you can deny he is a real fierce competitor. He will shoots and shoots and shoots and ignore everyone in order to get the win. On the other hand, T-mac faced constant double teams and he said he wanna retire. You just wont hear kobe said this kind of crap.

In my opinion, as of now, Kobe > T-Mac > Lebron > Iverson > Vince Carter.

Btw, there is no way Kobe will win the MVP cos at most Lakers are medicore team. MVP are awarded to BEST player of the BEST Teams!

    KOBE SUCKS!

Funny you put the > thing at the end. My girl asked me today, since Jordan is gone who is the best.

I had like a 20 minute talk to her about this.

Basically I came up with this.

Kobe > Iverson (this year he has been stunning) > Wade > TMac > LeBron

Plus Kobe and AI are like iron men, playing so long and so many minutes seems has little impact on them. In the mean time, T-Mac looks like a car about to break down.

Come on, you didn't watch the game and you're exposed. Odom guarded Mobley all night long.

Not a Kobe fan by any means, but if the Lakers somehow make the playoffs, he really should get some consideration. Look at the people he's playing with for pity's sake.

These Kobe threads sure bring out the worst in people.

I'll agree that the man can be an insufferable prick, but the lengths that you guys go to, just to denigrate him, it boggles the mind.

Any other player in this league scores 50 while adding 8 and 8 in a comeback win, and you wouldn't hear a peep about his shot attempts ...

that's the way the world works. remember the arrogant punk on the football team or basketball team? no one liked that regardless of how many points he scored. selfishness and arrogance is a trait taht wont win you any friends.

kobe isnt as bad as barry bonds. I hate that guy.

If the MVP goes to a guy that led his team to a near 0.500 record, I'll eat my shorts. I don't think he has near enough love within the media to garner the votes, besides.
Why do you think Odom is some sort of Steve Kerr type of standstill spot shooter? That's NEVER been his game. The problem is that he needs the ball to be a playmaker, and Kobe isn't interested in getting him opportunities to do so. Kobe doesn't try to bring out the best in his team, he just wants people set screens for him, guard the opponents, rebound for him, and otherwise stay out of his path to glory.
Exactly. 30 or so....okay. That's tossing the team on your back-level. 40? If that's not riding a red-hot hand or a Game 7, it's simply a matter of intentionally shutting out/not trusting/not wanting your team.
I almost agree with this. Except, that order is more in line with Playstation ratings than real world. Kobe clearly has the tools of Jordan, and is the best weapon in the league. But it's pre-champion Jordan, not the legend.
If you were a second tier player in the NBA and everyone was picking teams (sort of like a players-done fantasy draft), and Kobe, Wade, McGrady, Iverson, Duncan, KG, and James were the 'captains' of the 7 squads (no one else on them yet), and you got to pick which team to join, would you go with Kobe? I'd go with James - Wade - KG - Duncan - McGrady - Iverson - Kobe, in that order.
Name me any other player in the league that so transparently loathes the fact that the game has to be 5 on 5. Lengths to denigrate him? He sets the table, I just eat at it.
As to the "any other player" bit, it's not any other player. It's in the same vein of any arrests that go on with a Trailblazer. Any other team, a DUI or possession charge would just get a shaking head. But when you've established a pattern, you don't get the same benefit of the doubt anymore.
    Fully agree.

Kobe is nowhee near Bonds when it comes to prickness.

Kobe has attitude, but to me its just a confidence. He is never rude to reports or fans wanting an autograph. Bonds is just an all aorund jerk and I don't see that in Kobe.
