PF that’s actually 6’9 and athletic… No thank you cut his ass we only play toothpicks and midgets, coming for that number 1 (draft) spot! Nvm guess he’s a center
There is really not much to talk about. I'm ready to cut him, surely there are real prospects out there that @D-rock would rather give a try too.
I'd keep him and give him some minutes in KPJ-Wood lineups. Fernando's NBA comp is Favors or JA. Builds and physicality in post are obvious similarities. But I'd compare him more to Montrezl, they both play with crazy intensity but Fernando lacks Harrell's speed/energy and footwork. Fernando is a post player for sure and is best closer to basket but his 3ball is not bad either. His FT% gives me hope that this is area he can improve. Fernando is longer than Sengun (7'4 vs 7'0 wingspan) and more athletic so finishes above rim easier as roller and on lobs. He is also finishing threat in transition, like a 6'10 Nwaba.
I disagree. Garuba is a 4/5. Fernando is strictly a 5. Garuba also has much better lateral ability, footwork and most importantly, defensive IQ. Garuba can switch 1-5 unlike Fernando.
@saleem and I have been talking him up for close to a year now.....but we will let you be Fan #1. Like Bol Bol, he is a likeable guy. Someone you cheer for and becomes a fan favorite.
Fernando is also 4 years older than Garuba. If we are looking for fair comparisons, there's a whole lot more potential upside growth for Garuba.
I agree, Garuba has much more upside. Especially at the 4. Fernando at 5 is older but bigger, stronger and longer. And maybe even a more natural 3P shooter. But Fernando is stiffer than Garuba will never be as good a perimeter defender.
Rockets want to get to know Bruno and vice-versa https://sports.yahoo.com/rockets-plan-keep-young-big-202152061.html
Fine with keeping him around, fine if we cut him loose. Might as well see if he can contribute anything first though. You never know!
