I agree with you here, but Camby would only be someone Morey would look at if he felt certain or could be packaged in a deal bring Houston back Melo. Morey knows he needs a longterm solution at the Center position and Camby is probably not first on that list. Would only make sense if they are going to try and go deep in the playoffs if they can get there this season. With that being said, again this is just posturing on the part of Melos camp (Broussard, Leon Rose media spokesperson.)
Actually, Stephen A. Smith came out with the info like a week earlier, but had to backtrack. The credit was given to Broussard.
If Nuggets make Melo avaliable for a rental you have to pull that trigger. Either Melo resigns and we are on the rise again. Or he swaps teams and we sign and trade with NY or whoever and gain a few picks. Either way it puts us in an obvious direction which is something we drastically need. And Scola/Martin for CP3 is a great deal. Everyone b****es about not having a star, well you have to give up some talent to get a top 10 player in the league. Anyone who wouldn't do CP3 for Martin/Scola is foolish.
Do we need a history lesson on who Chris Broussard is again. Chris Broussard is a media spokesperson for Leon Rose (Melo's, Lebron, and everyone else who matters' agent.) Broussard has been connected to them since he worked with Lebrons' camp coming out of high school before Cleveland drafted him.
Depending what we trade to make this happen it almost seems like it's an all or nothing move. If we don't go deep in the playoffs melo probably won't sign with us and if we do go deep what guarantee do we have he will sign. We would rent melo, not win a championship, lose him in the offseason, and end up with a 20-30range draft pick. Were back or even worse starting off next season.
no actually, you've generously provided us with 4 lessons on the mysterious chris broussard in this thread alone.
A portland + Houston + denver deal would be pretty intriguing. Alot of GMs in the league, according to multiple media members, would be very willing to work Oden back onto the court. I wonder if this could be a part of the deal for Denver? Send Oden + Bud + Hill + pick to the Nugs. Battier + Brooks + Harrington to the blazers. Houston gets Camby + Melo Lowry/Ish Martin/Lee Melo/Williams Hayes/Patterson Camby/Miller this is a half baked idea here, but i can see the basic anatomy of the deal.
right now I would trade brooks for that chic modeling snorg tees on the ad in this thread. So if you can package him to get melo and camby then you have to do it. But what will happen when team lala opts out to NY? do we blame morey for not getting the job done?
Actually Stephen A. Smith came out with insider information on the Decision several times that he had to backtrack on(and by backtrack I mean not acknowledge that he contradicted himself only a few days earlier). I don't doubt he has his sources - but obviously not the right ones.
For Camby alone Im sure they would just wait for the offseason to sign him as a free agent to a nice veteran package like Brad Miller got. The only way they really push for Camby to come this season is if Melo is coming along too and they want a playoff push. -The reason being trading for Camby alone would most likely only make sense if the Blazers were getting financial savings in the deal as well. Camby is key to the Blazers success if they make a run in the playoffs this season and wont likely be let go for cheap. The Rockets are already over the cap and would be hard pressed to get under if they had to tack on additional salary for Camby this season when its probably not going to salvage their playoff hopes.
That's the thing. A big part of Morey's thinking is going into the next CBA resolution. If they in fact implement a "franchise tag" that's a big plus as we could give our team AND Melo another season to do it big. It's a lot to hope for and gamble on but the whole contract for Melo thing isn't the only barganing chip being held out there.... Somewhat.
Fixed. For Battier, Bud, Hill, and Brooks, if we can get Melo and Camby then what a great deal would that be. Problem is Denver wants Batum.
I'm not sure where people are getting this "Camby is an expiring" from. He's signed through next year for $11,071,500mil (+-3mil based on incentives).
