I must be watching a different game. The ball movement is crisp, guys are getting open shots, the defense is better and the offense is fluid. Above all, we're beating the other team's starters or at least holding serve. Until the fourth quarter, that is. But to start the game, and starting the third quarter, Lowry has been very effective.
No i dont miss Brooks. I did mis Ish tonight against the Bulls. He could have helped and would have allowed Lowry to get some rest but our lousy excuse of a coach has his head up his a**!!
I've stated in my post that's selective memory. Since that guy started it, without looking at the big picture.
Remember the play in the 4th with Battier out on the wing for a 3 but he fires it down to Miller for a one handed shot?? If that shot misses the description of the possession goes from crisp ball movement to helter skelter. Sometimes it's more about guys making shots than anything that happens before. Remember the stretch to start the quarter?? Guys were getting some good looks that just wouldn't go down. Sure they had the turnovers and a few tougher shots, but some of those shots in the 4th are shots guys make most of the time that didn't go down. Now, where have I heard that before.
Did you now see the last part of the knicks game and the last part tonight? Its about shot making, not running this fancy offense. Late in games, it comes down to a guy or guys being able to hit a shot under pressure with a hand in their face. Against a good defense, you're going to have to his shots like that. As I've said also, pts aren't created equal.
Truth is, I don't care who starts or finishes, just that they both contribute to wins and I'll be content.
I agree with you. Last year I believed AB should start, because we need offense in starting lineup. This year it's different. I'm not hating on AB, like some posters thought. But it's just kinda obvious to me with different players, we can have different starters. They are both good players. Not all star level, but good enough to contribute consistently.
Well, in his 4:50 in the first half, Ishmail Smith did lose the lead (+/- of -8) had two turnovers, and looked completely lost on the court. Lowry did need a rest, but it's understandable that in a close game, Adelman would have little faith in Smith tonight, no?
I wish Adelmen did the same to Lee in this game. He was completely lost on both of the court too. RA left him on the court too long.
Rockets have been missing offense from the bench. They haven't been able to depend on Bud or Lee for that. Brooks's return could change this. Wanting Brooks to come off the bench isn't hating or wanting him off the team. It's only the drama queens trying to twist this opinion into that.
"Been missing for years" - Waldo With that said, I think Brooks coming back would be a nice lift. I actually think we should keep starting Lowry and have Brooks come off the bench and just focus on scoring.
What's so hard to understand. Lowry ran a great 2nd unit last year. He's missed preseason, and now is missing Brooks. When everyone is back together, why would Coach not return to last year's success with Lowry running the 2nd unit? Am I a drama queen for wanting status quo in the PG situation as last year...or are you a drama queen for wanting to flip that on its head for no clear reason other than wanting to argue with the Coach?
Tired of the same topic going back and forth. IMO, there are quite a few things that Lowry and Ish do (simple things might I add) that I wish AB would learn. Example being learning to swing the ball QUICKLY, instead of taking even just a second to sit there and think "Is there a chance I can make a play on my own here". These couple of seconds could make or break an easy post entry to Yao while he has position. I love the fact that AB can score, and be a play maker, but there are times where he needs to realize what position he's playing on the court. As for those thinking this team is better with out AB. Sure they are, if you plug in Chris Paul or any of the other elite PG's in the league. However, that's not the case at the moment. If you're choosing Lowry or Ish over AB, then I'm not sure exactly what game you're watching. As for bringing up the win loss records with and with out AB. For the love of everything, please stop this. Our schedule with AB was much tougher...that defense is horrible. TL;DR - Seems we spend too much time arguing about whose right or wrong, rather than cheering for those that bust their tails on the court that given night.
I'd settle for the guys to be healthy so nobody has to play 40+ minutes at the PG spot. Heck, Adelman can even go with the hot hand late in the 4th.
Because personnel has changed. Last year we had Hayes, Ariza, Battier in the staring lineup. We had enough defense but we need scorers besides Scola. Who can score at PG? AB For 2nd unit, we had Landry the finisher and Cbud. We need distributer and defense for that. Who fits the bill? Lowry. This year, we have Yao/Miller/Martin/Scola in the starting lineup. Offense will be there. But who can defend besides Battier? Lowry. For 2nd unit, we have a Cbud in shooting slump and whoelse for offese? AB fits the bill.
Why would we do that, we must highlight every player's deficiencies over and over again except those of the players I like. Supporting players are for people who don't understand basketball. DD
