Wait what? I thought you said he was a superior floor general, how does a superior floor general cough it up at the start of the 4th quarter by not even getting a shot up on several possessions? Come on, Da Nile is not just a river in Africa.... DD
I disagree. This is how I see it: Consider the two in three categories: scoring, defense, and playmaking ability. Brooks is clearly the better scorer. He is a lights out three point shooter and very effective and elusive when attacking the basket. Although Lowry cannot come close to the shooting of Brooks, I think he is quite effective when driving the lane. Brooks has the advantage here, but it's closer than most think. On defense Lowry is the clear winner. He is tough and plays very hard nosed defense. He is thicker than Brooks and almost as quick. Brooks has a lot smaller frame and can't really get as physical as Lowry can. The defensive advantage goes to Lowry and he is leaps and bounds better than Brooks in this respect. As far as playmaking goes I think the advantage goes to Lowry as well. Since he is not much of a scorer, he looks to set up his teammates more often than brooks does. Lowry also runs the break very effectively and is usually able to get a layup or free throws. Also his ability to attack the basket sets up kick out threes for the likes of Kevin Martin and other shooters on the team. Brooks has improved in his passing as he has developed, but I think Lowry gets the nod here too. When you look at it this way you see that Lowry's weaknesses aren't as glaring as Brooks. Consider the fact that Brooks has a pretty high trade value right now and it seems like a no brainer to trade him if and only if you can get a top tier talent in return.
If you could smash 2 players together to form one player, the Rox would be one of the best teams in the league. Unfortunately you can't, the Rox will always suffer from having way too many one dimensional players.
Come on Clutch. Have you watched the last 2 games. Lowry has sucked out there. He forces to many situations, can't create crap and makes boneheaded turnovers and he can't hit his nuts with a bowling ball tied to his jock. Let's at least acknowledge that right now he is one of the worst starting pg's in the league. if you do not agree then I will agree to disagree with you but I will also think less of your basketball analysis. Personally with Yao I would choose Ish. But given the choice between Brooks and Lowry, I pick Brooks.
Those possessions were often broken plays that he was forced to throw up a shot on. Da Nile is not just a river in Africa.... He didn't play that poorly. Derek Rose was making pull up three pointers -- hell, he was making everything. Sometimes, there's not much you can do about that. I suspect Lowry is still working his way into shape as well; I'm sure the 43 minutes didn't help. Either way, it'll be nice to get Brooks firepower off the bench so our second unit doesn't blow it again.
Lowry's weaknesses is glaring enough that everybody knows he has no offensive game. Rose did not even bother to look at him. Lowry's play making and defense? where are they in this game? play making? did you see even once he created anything facing Bull's half court defense?
Yeah we really need those 7 points and 7 asssists......I mean that is an IMPACT PG right there. Brooks is so much better, ...SOOOOO much better. Lowry is just not as good as people think. He has feasted on 2nd units and going all out against some tired starters, now that he is being asked to lead a team, just like in Memphis his numbers do not go up. He is what he is an energy guy off the bench.... You guys won't admit it.....and you say I am stubborn...lol. DD
As a starter AB is 68-54...Lowry is an unimpressive 1-1. Unless you want to count his time in Memphis (I don't recommend it) which would make him a whopping 9-23.
Boom goes the dynamite... Just got to ignore him, he is not here to discuss the team, just to troll. DD
The bench play was absent tonight, so, yes, Brooks was badly missed. He could have come firing away from the bench.
Are you kidding? Look at the game, Lowry and the starting lineup outplayed Bulls starting lineup on both end of the floor. Lowry is fine with enough firepower in starting lineup. It was the 2nd unit who blew up the lead in 2nd quarter and 4th quarter. Lowry played with 2nd unit at the beginning of the 4th quarter, it is obvious he needs scorers or shooters around him, and this 2nd unit didn't have that. If anything, the game proved Lowr is good enough to start, AB's scoring is much needed in 2nd unit.
Given that you have previously told us that 5 assists per game constitutes elite point guard play - yes it is, my avoirdupois-teted friend. You haven't made a Rockets-related post in about 5 years, and that's the honest to goodness truth. Your posts are about the two letter that end them. Do what I did the last few weeks, take some time off. And maybe watch a game or two. Thx in advance.
