I watched the game and his balance looked better. He's still missing that blow by gear. As i said before, that injury is a 8-10 month deal. Thats the grant hill special. I had it the month after my last college game and took almost a yr for me.
Great job selling low Morey. Should have bought low instead, using Brook's poor play this season to lock him into a cheap long term contract. Then trade him when he returns to form. If we were to go out on the open market right now, I'd love to hear about all the 20ppg scorers we could get for Dragic and a low 1st. Morey got ripped.
Of course we sold low, there's only one chance to sell because he's looking to get paid in the summer. And we ain't about to overpay a backup point guard when you already have lowry who is playing better than Brooks.
He alwade get ripp., He trade great McGrady and Launndry in deal that bring Kev Martin, who no can shot 40% lic superstar MacGrady. U priove with xcellent graph. Remind me again, what you're still doing here.
Except...Brooks was not signing a low contract and could have went anywhere else. So instead of selling low we could have sold nothing.
Brooks might be looking to get paid but it isn't happening after this season's performance. If he signs a $10mm/yr contract, then I will admit I was wrong and that Morey got a good deal, although he should have traded Brooks a lot sooner when he could have gotten more. I think Brooks could sign for a deal similar to Lowry though, and when he eventually blows up again he could have brought back a serious return with a contract like that.
Do you really have to bring common sense into an AB thread? Really? It's much more fun to say he quit on the team, was never any good, or now I'm even learning, in this very thread, that he sandbagged it ala Quitten or McLazy! Fascinating updates, chaps!
I think it my have been a good trade for both teams, and for both players. There doesn't always have to be a winner and a loser when it comes to trades. Brooks wasn't ever going to be happy playing behind Lowry, so the Rockets did what was best for everyone and traded Brooks. Dragic looks to be a solid backup to Lowry and we've got him under contract through next year at a good price. At this point in time Dragic is just a better fit for the Rockets than Brooks. Brooks is a great player when he is on his game, unfortunately he hasn't had a lot of great games this year. The Rockets have played great since the trade, so lets all be happy. I know some of you were in love with Brooks, but you need to move on. Dragic had another good game last night and the Rockets won easily, this is what Rocket fans need to be concerned with.
Well I'm someone else and I agree 100% with Shinikashi. Brooks is a good scorer can't see a wide open 7 foot 6 guy if his life depended on it. John stocktons abused dog, that sleeps outside in the utah cold, has better vision than brooks. Helen keller had better vision than brooks. woody allen has better vision than brooks. Stevie wonder ... I'm covering my eyes as I type this, and I have better visiion than brooks. Brooks is a bench scorer sparkplug. Probably could go down as one of the better 6th men of year if he wanted to... but that's not what he wants, and explains why he couldn't pass it to ming or anyone else. We get more defense and team defense with dragic, less attitude, and it's not like dragic is a complete tomato can. Dragic is a point guard and brooks is a scorer stuck in a small frame with 0 defense. With that in mind I would take dragic(even wiothout the pick) since dragic has an overall better contribution to the team. Brooks is a chucker and I could see him scoring a lot for a bottom feeder team. I wouldn't be surprised if a team like cleveland or minnesota might pay him slightly more, than a contending better team.. since brooks is not going to get you there, so why not let him light it up in games that don't matter? Brooks is a perfect fit for a toronto or the kings type of team - A one dimensional scorer.
But were in a better position moving forward, lets say we want to move up in the draft, we now have another attractive pick plus the guy just was not very good at setting people up (ball hog).
PLaymaking as in dribble for 10 seconds, recklessly drive and throw the ball away/bounce it off his foot? Nah, we got the better basketball player. Lowry/Dragic/1st round pick > Brooks.
lol @ how ungrateful some rockets fans are. oh how quickly some of you have forgotten all he did for this rockets organization.
Brooks has always been kind of streaky. When he is hot, he can hit all night and nobody can stop him. When he is off, he looks like a bad chucker. His overall efficiency as a long range shooter is slightly above average. Any way you look at him, he is a shooter, and a good one. He has improved his playmaking skills somewhat over the past season or so. But court vision is mostly innate and can only be improved marginally. So that's what he is, Calvin Murphy 2.0.
I view the deal differently. We gave up Brooks because we had to previously pay Lowry to keep Lowry. Lowry is starter quality and a better "QB" for this team, and that says nothing about Lowry's superior defense. Brooks was due a raise, but why pay it? Why not give the starting role to Lowry, who's earned that role and the raise he got, and improve the defense of our starting backcourt, while getting an abundantly capable backup in Dragic, who on his day can score with the best in the league? But if you're viewing the deal talent-wise, I can see your point better. But it's not always about talent, it's about fit and finances, and in both of those cases the Rockets did better than the Suns now and in the future. I mean, seriously dude, do you see Brooks getting Lowry money or more as Nash's backup? Do you see Lowry replacing Nash when he retires? Do you think that AB is happy playing as a back up? I'll never forget what Brooks did for us agains the Lakers, but he's an immature, hot-headed, "Pass 2nd, Shoot 1st" point guard who's "a not quite ready for prime-time" kind of player.
So you're saying that when we all observed him getting off the bench, walking down the tunnel, and retiring to the locker room, during a game....and concluded he had literally just quit on his team - we weren't using common sense. Interesting definition of common sense you have there.
