dont mean to spoil the party, I watched collegiate select team vs dream 2 the other day on NBATV, which was played in 96. The select team had Brevin Knight as the starting PG, and he was killing dream 2 with 23pts / 8 assts. The commentators were all over him prasing. It is just practice. BTW, half of that select team didnt make far in the NBA. Only 3 true stars from that team Tim Ducan, Paul Perice and Chuancy Billups. 96 college select team Att: 21,454; Officials: Lonnie Dixon and Wayne Unruh. Not to beat this to death, but I've seen Chauncey successfully post up smaller PGs more times than I can count. It's definitely a part of his comfort zone. He's stated publicly that the reason he works out and gotten so strong is to take advantage of smaller defenders. If your observation is based on last year's playoffs, Chauncey was way off his game and almost embarrassed himself. I agree AB's greatest weakness on defense is against picks. In summer league he was awful but will learn. Bigger PGs do post up AI on occasion but it doesn't happen that often. This is because rarely do teams cover him with big PGs because he abuses them so bad on the other end. This is where Detroit would sometimes bring in Lindsey Hunter.
And your point being? If you're thinking Brooks might go the way of Brevin Knight, getting shunted from team to team, that's the wrong conception. If AB manages to be as good as Brevin Knight, who was and is still a good assist-man, I think he'll have fulfilled alot of people's expectations. But Brooks plays bigger than Knight. Knight is what? 5'10" in shoes? And he certainly plays like his height on the court, but watching Brooks play, you'd think he's more 6'2" than 6'0". Plus he has something that Knight never had: a working jumpshot with legit NBA range on top of that finishing ability after the drive. If Brooks can somehow nullify his size disadvantage on the defensive end by more than hold his own on the offensive end, I think he'll have succeeded in this league.
the same can be said about everyone in the league. dont worry brooks will be starting ahead of francis before u know it.
