AB0 will finish the games to help Yao Ming with single coverage. Yao will have AB0/Martin/Bud/Scola to dish out to when being double team on the post.
I love Kyle Lowry, I think he is awesome. I absolutely love having him on the team. But I also understand the team's vision and what they are trying to build. I know what they are trying to do with the offense. Its comical at this point that people still think there is a competition for the starting positions on the team. Its cute that Trugoy and company bump all these threads after every game. The only thing I am dreading is all the stupid threads we are going to have shift through once Brooks comes back and continues starting.
both have their functions, and both do what they need to do with this team. Brooks didnt have a great start, but come on, seriously... Lowry is winning this debate 100+ to 34? I think people are forgetting the good things Brooks can do just because he's been gone a while. I'll be happy to have him back, and happy to have him starting. I like Ish, but I wont miss him too much just yet because hes still a little too hesitant with his own show. He's a good passer, but not an incredible floor captain and passes too many times on open shots and layups. Brooks will start lighting it up, Lowry will help the bench be awesome, and all will be well.
Brooks is better off the bench now that Lowry can shoot from downtown. Brooks is weak defensively and he hurts us constantly on the perimeter and allowing penetration way too much. It's better for him to come off the bench because we need scoring off the bench too and who better to shoot lights out than Aaron with green light off the bench. Lowry and Battier solidify our perimeter than Aaron and Martin. Aaron and Martin is just too weak on the perimeter and since this league is dominate by GREAT PG, it is better to have Lowry guarding them than Brooks. When Brooks come off the bench, the other team's 2nd tier PG can not guard him....so it's a win-win situation for us. Of course, all these don't matter unless you can convince stubborn Adelman to change his mind which i don't think he will.
Why do Brooks supporters always have to make it an either or? Most of us don't want Brooks gone, just coming off the bench. Martin and AB together does not work at all defensively. It is no surprise to me that we win more with Lowry paired up with Martin. If RA truly is against Lowry starting, then fine, he should bench Martin. Having poor perimeter D further puts the hurt on our already pathetic interior D. I would still like to see AB get his minutes, I just want to see it coming off the bench against the opponent's bench and in the 4th. Besides, it wasn't just a bad start. I cannot see a shred of improvement between this AB and last year's. He still can't pass very well and his defense is beyond horrid. He still ISO's way too much and seems too scared to use his speed and penetrate to the rim. Just like last year, AB is NOT the answer this year.
Lowry is on a hot streak. I wouldn't read too much into it; sometimes players get hot in a small sample size. My opinion of his true talent level has not changed. Brooks can shoot; Lowry cannot, except for the occasional hot game. Brooks should start.
Yep. When AB gets frustrated, you can count on turnovers and losing control of the tempo, as well as the game. When you got Lowry, you can count on mental toughness.
Does not matter who starts to be frank. I would love for Lowry and Martin to start the game, and Brooks to be a sparkplug. Give Martin all the playing time he can UNTIL about 10 minutes in the fourth quarter. Then depending on match ups, play Lowry & Brooks in the back court together or Lowry and Lee. Essentially what this is doing is allowing Lowry to set the team up in the 1st quarter so that they do not get in huge deficits. This allows Brooks to take over with the back ups during the 2nd/3rd quarter, which works great since the bench has been inconsistent and directionless on offense. And then, it removes Martin from his least productive quarter (4th quarter/clutch time), and puts in Lowry who has shown he can be efficient at getting the Rockets into their sets with Brooks who can also shoot and is not afraid to take a big shot when need be or things break down.
Because it's too simple to be wrong. Rick won't acknowledge Lowry Starting because Starters don't lose there positions when they get hurt. It will be AB's position to lose. He is going to need some 20pt and 5 dimes games in wins, to win this crowd back.
He will still get plenty of minutes off the bench, heck he can average 25-30 minutes which is close to starter minutes anyway. Maybe reevaluate things later in the season when we have a better idea of whether Lowry has actually improved or if it's just a hot streak.
If we win in the majority of games AB starts, I'd keep AB as starter. If not, time for Lowry to inherit the position.
I don't really care who starts but what I do care about is something happening to the chemistry this team has built. The club has FINALLY started to gel and roles have been defined, anything to mess it up during such an important stretch would be devastating.
^He averaged 20 and 5 last year and became villainized. I don't think there is anything he can do to win back Lowry fans, they have already made up there mind. Kyle is great but he works better with the 2nd unit. Now if he can consistently get you 20 and 10 than of course he should start, but can he really do that?
