It's now about who starts. It's about who finishes the games. eg. Manu hardly ever starts for the Spurs but the ball will always be in his hands in the closing minutes of the 4th quarter.
You know since AB has been injured this argument has come up more times then I can remember, now before the last couple of games I was saying Aaron Brooks to start all the way, at that stage I thought Aaron was just a clear cut better player and what we needed to start winning games. Then Kyle started having these crazy games, his defense (actually watching him) is VERY good always in front of his defender (bar Derrick Rose), always pressuring the ball and denying the ball as well, he plays tough. With all this said about Kyle, IF (yep that magical word again) he can keep his above average shooting up then he should definitely start over AB, not because he's a better player, but because he suits the starting lineup better. Watching the second unit play in this game (vs Detroit) it is clear that they struggle on offense and with Aaron they at least have someone who can consistently get off their own shot and not let the opposing team go on these 10-0 runs. I'm a huge Aaron Brooks supporter, but I believe for the team if Kyle Lowry can play this consistently then Brooks should come off the bench.
Sigh this is stupid. Just because Lowry has had some great games so far this season doesn't mean anything. His season shooting % and ppg still are about mediocre but his assists and rebounds are up. Lowry is a good PG. However, many people on this board are still stuck on traditional positions and/or don't realize that Adelman's offense doesn't require a traditional offense. I don't see Lowry becoming the type of shooter that Brooks and don't see Brooks becoming the type of playmaker Lowry is. Both players compliment either well and the team well.
You know what's telling? AB came back from this offseason without working on anything new. Not even defense. Lowry came back after working hard on his shot and it's paying off. Seems like Lowry busted his butt to get better While AB was complaining about not getting a contract extension....
It's not about who starts.....it's about KM+AB are horrible together defensively..... I don't want to see that combo when we need stops.....ugh
Im not sure if you are serious. Lowry has been doing this since he has become starter. No knee-jerk about this.
I think lowry worked on eating this summer also since he could afford to eat a lot more with his big contract. He was definitely slimmer last year.
I voted Brooks, even though I have been a big supporter of Kyle over Brooks. Reason is I think Lowry being the spark off the bench works for him, sure he is doing great right now and I wouldn't mind to see him continue to start, but that second unit could benefit with Lowry as the point. It really doesn't matter, I would like to see both together on the court as times if possible.
After this game, it's sooo hard to decide. Lowry has been becoming a prolific scorer. We can go with Lowry at the start and see if we can trade AB for something good. Or, we can go with AB at the start and Lowry will be a huge chip if a trade is going to happen.
Trust me, I love Lowry. But he dropped 22 points on 4-6 from downtown -- that's just not going to happen on a consistent basis. And he's also yet to play with Yao Ming.. I'd like to see him get some time with Yao to really judge just how well he fits in with this team. That is, of course, if you think Yao is still the future. If he's not and you're committed to rebuilding... Lowry's value won't get any higher than right now.
We are top 10 in offense.......seems like scoring is fine. We do however lack a closer.......... AB off the bench can still finish games.
brooks will lose his starting spot when chuck hayes does(never, unless yao is healthy) adelman has loyalty for certain players. now, dont mind me, let the pissing contest continue
