It is particulary acute for guys who were drafted late and have performed for a couple of seasons at a level way above their rookie contracts, win a MIP and are looking forward to a big payday. High draft picks at least have made over $10m before the rookie contract is even over. And guys who aren't that good anyway aren't risking as much. Brooks is in the perfect storm when it comes to stressing over money.
ab isn't worth more than 6 mil to me because of his size he has to work doubly hard on the defensive end and he is replaceable imo...not saying i wouldn't be sad if he left though
I say lets give AB the same contract lowry got they are about the same talent wise they both bring something that the other doesnt, in lowrys case he got lucky and got overpaid, in brooks case that type of money is just about right, maybe 1-2 million more per year at most depending how the rockets value him.
