They both suck at defense, so it doesn't matter. They can score 10 points per game but they will give up 20. I know its not their fault for being short but damn... Brooks was getting torched yesterday on the defensive end.

College and summer league. He demonstrated an ability to successfully run the offense without shooting, which JL3 didn't do, even in his good summer league of 2006. Brooks knows how to pass the ball to players on the break and to get the ball to other players in scoring position, both of which JL3 has never demonstrated. In other words, AB has some true PG instincts which JL3 lacks.

That said, how good he turns out to be in the NBA is a question mark. Unless he becomes a better defender or turns into an unstoppable offensive juggernaut, AB will never be a starting PG.

You had to watch the games. JL3 was a ballhog in summer league and that is why he got assists. Passing was a last resort for him then and it is now. He's had two chances to make the NBA and hasn't done very well. Putting him in the game basically kills our offensive flow no matter what his personal stats show. AB already shows flashes of playmaking ability JL3 has never demonstrated. Look, the jury is out on what AB will ultimately accomplish but saying he is equal to or better than JL3 isn't much of a reach. If AB's shot is falling, it's a no-brainer.

I think Brooks has a much better shot. No one ever talked about JL3 being in Novak's league from long-range, much less beating him in a contest.

As an OSU fan, I agree I love John Lucas III, as a Rockets fan, yeah its cool to have a progeny on a team he coked out of... as an Aaron Brooks fan, I say he is closer to AI then you most likely will believe,

as a Dr. Strangelove fan, listen her you newbie, don't you ever talk crap about OSU or people talking about OSU again, or us pokies will poke you good, you know, that long harsh bathroom jail poke that changes the way you see birds

    Aaron Brooks for President

Here is the difference between the two: Whenever Lucas has the ball, I enter a mode of extreme mental suffering. For some reason, that does not happen with Brooks (at least yet).

Listen, all I was trying to say was the way you opened our dialogue wasn't right. You don't just say "your full of crap" as the opening to a discussion.I didn't threaten you. What I did was try to warn you that this is how people end up getting banned. You've been here long enough to know better.

I probably responded to you too strongly myself also....apologies from this side.

okierock, you are totally within your rights to think I'm bonkers for even suggesting that Brooks has all star potential. We obviously disagree and that's cool, but you didn't need to get personal.

If you want to discuss Lucas v Brooks..all systems go or even Brooks defeciencies as you perceive them....let's go..Why don't we try this again?

i think it's always wise to come to a conclusion on a player based on 2 preseason games.

Just viewed R2K's highlights. The two late penetrate and dish plays by AB clearly illustrate what he can do that JL3 cannot do.

There is quite a bit more data on Brooks than two preseason games.l live in Tahoe over half the year now and I'll tell ya this guy can flat out ball. You get to see a lot of Pac 10 games out there of course and so my exposure to him has been pretty high.Toss in the USA SELECT performance and him carrying that team as far as he did during March Madness and there's much more to go on.I mean they even gave Florida fits. It's not often where you find a guy this quick that can play the point and shoot lights out.

On draft day I was a little pissed at first because we had such a hole at PF,but they already had plans for that with Scola.

Go Rockets! It's going to be one helluva season.

    My name is Lucus
I live on the second floor
    I live upstairs from you
Yes I think you've seen me before
If you hear something late at night
Some kind of trouble. some kind of fight
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
Just don't ask me what it was
    I think it's because I'm clumsy
I try not to talk too loud
    Maybe it's because I'm crazy
I try not to act too proud
They only hit until you cry
And after that you don't ask why
    You just don't argue anymore
    You just don't argue anymore
    You just don't argue anymore

Success in college doesn't equate into success in the association. Lucas and Brooks could compensate for their small size with their quickness in college. But in the NBA... everyone is much faster and much, much bigger. There isn't a track record of undersized pg having much success or contributing on a consistent basis in the NBA. Yes... AI is the one example. But he is a special, one of a kind player who is able to punish people offensively which compensates for the fact that he often gets abused on defense. Brooks nor Lucas have that kind of offensive ability.

Brooks lead the Pac 10 in scoring...a class conference, while playing the 2.Again the questions were his size and ability to make the transition to the point.Well,I think most who have seen him play can testify as to his ability to see the court and make good decisions, even make spectacular passes look easy.
And I'm telling you he is an incredible shooter....with mighty handles.

The problem is that both Brooks and Lucus are not a part of our future. I can easily see that next year some new rookie we draft takes the place of Brooks like what he is doing now to Lucus.

One on one, you will know who is better.
Otherwise, Brooks is one of second lineup of the Team American. We must believe Coach K and Morey.
