League average on those last second shots is something like 28%, I believe.

I am not going to try and convince you of anything.... I will just tell you what I know...

Dirk, will get you points especially in the reg season with all of that BS flopping he does on both ends of the court.. But during playoff time it's a different story and they let the players be a little more physical.

Dirk is a 6-11 Shooting Guard (the opposite of Brooks) and when he's on he will get you the points... But if the game is close in the 2nd half Dirk does a disappearance act... He's done it for years. The man that has stepped up to take the Big shots and get the Mavs out of trouble is Jason Terry...

For the last 5 or so years the debate about Dirk missing in the playoffs has been all over talk radio, newspaper, news, you naem it... This isn't from some freakin STAT.. it's from watching the games (sinci I live in Dallas)...

Stats are a bunch of crap... If you read the stats it will tell you that Corey Maggette is more Clutch than Kobe... So you know what.. Give me Kobe any day of the week..

The same goes with the Rockets in their Championship years.. The people that were the most dangerous during Clutch time other than Olajuwon were Horry, Ellie and Cassell.. Their Stats for the game may show that they only shot 20 or 30%... But please feel free to leave them open during clutch time because you are looking at the stats..

Pressure can bring out the best and worst in people and just because you can score a lot of points in the beginning of a game does not make you Clutch.

All I will say is, Rafer would have made 2/2 from the line, and would have had a better chance to make a wide open 3 since they always left him open.

    Per 82games.com:

Game Winning Shot Opportunity = 24 seconds or less left in the game, team with the ball is either tied or down by 1 to 2 points.

    Data sample
    Playoffs: '03-04, '04-05, '05-06, '06-07, '07-08

    Dirk: 3-6 (50%)

What you fail to understand is that if the parameters are correct, stats make the most reliable and persuasive arguments.

Cool... You believe the stats and go from their....

I will say this is if the so called stats were so freaking accurate NO WAY IN HELL do Dallas LOSE to GS.

Also Dirk wouldn't have stunk up the place....

Not even going to go down that trail of arguing with you.. So have fun with that...

Really? That season, the Warriors won all 3 of their games against Dallas in the regular season. And you think that indicates that they would lose to Dallas in a 7 game series?

Like I said before, stats make the most reliable, persuasive argument assuming that the parameters are relevant.

First of all, that's not true at all..
And second, Brooks has never been the go to guy in the clutch before this season.. Did you expect Brooks taking and making the last shots in games when he was sitting on the bench and watching Yao and McGrady?

Aaron will have plenty more opportunities to Clutch it up. :)

Alas, if only last night's Rocket game could end the way Teen Wolf ended:

Exactly the people whining about Brooks lack of scoring late clearly have no clue about the finishing rate of late game shots.

I would be interested to see Kobe's though as the observations I have is that he is above league average.

If you are referring to FT's near the end of the game you are dead right! Infact as I was watching the game & saw Evans foul, the first thing I thought was that it was actually a good foul cuz I've seen Aaron miss clutch FT's at the end of the the game/OT. I'm not going to look around for stats to make my argument, you don't have to believe me, but if you've watched the Rox in the last 12 months you'd know what I'm referring to.

It's like like a lot of players, he's got all that time to think about the shot, where as when it's FG attempts, he's got less time to think about the shot.

He's well above average this season. His conversion rate on potential game winning shots was actually below average in prior 4 or 5 seasons.

I don't know ... I think luck as lot more to do with those last second shots than people realize.

Agree with you a billion percent, he hits that shot at an alarming rate and Sat, he will prolly hit that shot 2-3 times, everything else went wrong for us why would anyone think that would?

Basketball gods had it out for us last night!

The OP is justing saying some thoughts which come from the observations of many Brooks' games and hope other fans tell whether it is right or wrong.
So it is not just knee jerk. At the same time I said:

There are so many persons saying "agree" and so many people saying their own observations and stats. How dare you say this is worthless and humiliate these fans giving response?

I know you like Brooks, me too. Can you just read others' posts with impersonal points???
