free throws will come with time. he just needs to go thru some growing pains.
his end of game shot is tough to judge. only a handful of players in the league will make that shot. DWade, Kobe, LBJ, Roy the very best of the stars. So you can't really say that AB will never be a star because he didn't make that shot.
Kobe missed free throws and "clutch" shots many times in his career. in fact L.A. wouldn't have one of their championships if not for Robert Horry hitting the clutch shot. Kobe couldn't do it. if it was up to Kobe, they would've lost. give AB some time.

Nobody can do it consistently... there is nobody who can hit 100%, or 90%, or 70%, or even 60% of game-winning shots, because nobody in the NBA has a true talent level field goal percentage that high. The best you can hope for is half. Flip a coin. Sometimes you make it, sometimes you don't.

I'm talking about the play Adelman always calls at the end of halves/games where AB iso's at the top of the key and it never works

He always misses his first free throw in the clutch. He isn't a clutch free throw shooter. Not everyone is. He kept us in the game against Sac so it opened the door for a chance at winning.

This thread is simply echoing a vibe that fans feel from time to time when they see their team lose. We all wish Brooks had made his shots at the end last night; unfortunately he didn't. Meanwhile, you've basically resorted to a personal attack of fellow fans, condemning this thread and all posts in it except yours, to hope it shuts them up? Learns 'em how? By your recent signature, at least indirectly, "you've lost the argument" bud.

Props to you for your excellent "I'm a studied fan and here's why and how" video... and years of what I am sure is excellent content on your part - but there's no need to constantly beat back the tide of other fans and their feelings, just because you don't think it's necessary or beneficial to read their stuff. If they're not on your level, no amount of brow beating is ever going to change it. The alternative to your abrasiveness is to let it slide and stay out of topics you don't think are great enough for you.

It's on you to seek out topics you can be more fulfilled in.

As it stands, it definitely "feels" like Brooks has missed more at the end of games, than he's made this season. It may always feel that way after a loss, until Brooks puts together a string of endgame winning shots. Statistically, who knows if one can put a rating on his "clutchness" - it's surely unfair to assess that - but last night he wasn't clutch... and the GARM fears a trend! That's all.

And you're right - this phenomenon - it's basketball - but it doesn't mean we can't feel burned after a loss, and feel the opposite next game after a win.

Yeah, the missed free throw was unfortunate, but every player misses them sometimes... nobody's a 100% FT shooter, either, even if the chances are a lot higher.

I don't know if this has been posted or not but wasn't Aaron the whole reason why we even had a CHANCE at getting a game winner/overtime shot?

He was having a bad game and still hit some TOUGH shots in the last 2 minutes of the game.

When AB was taking that FT, I said to my wife that he could miss it, and he indeed missed it. I recalled the rockets let Lowry or Landry shoot FT in the end of the most of the games. AB is not a mental tough guy, he was not playing well under the pressure, he could be better because he is very young. To me, the coach is using him too much as a scorer, he just had two or three assitances last night, that is not a way to win many games as a PG. Anyway, AB is not the reason that the game has been lost, it was due to the lack of rebounds.

It's not just the missed free throw, it's the fact that Aaron is significantly a worse free throw shooter in those type of clutch situations. He's missed more than his fair share.

And the worrying thing is not that he missed but it was clearly a case of choking, it barely made the front rim and Aaron's usual free throw technique means that 90% of his free throws hit the back iron.

The only rockets players that shoots a better % in the clutch vs normally is carl landry, who shoots 69.4% FG in the clutch and an amazing 61.5% EFG on Jumpers in the clutch

I found AB more clutch last season when Yao was around. This season the defensive focus is on AB (and Landry, when he was around), so he hasn't been as good in the clutch...but yesterday's FT was just inexusable.

It's that annoying bear that parades around the court thinking he's smarter than Yogi.

How can you not hit him?
