They were down tonight, and he tied the game. In the knicks game the rockets were down when he went on a tear of 7 points in a row which put us over. Just the ones I can get at the top of my head. Depends on what you think as coming through really, do you mean in the final minute, minutes, or 4th qrtr alone?

What a SICK step back... Brooks has some crazy perimeter skills. Just a beautiful display right there from the little guy.

every time that Brooks hits a shot, this thread will get bumped

I guess you could say the same about a miss, but then the thread title would not be true.

I trust him the most to hit the shot.

Tonight should be overemphasized due to Boston's great defense. The dude had a quick as hell step back to pull up for three. I doubt he could have gotten another three off if you look at how the Cs defend beyond th earc.

Why doesn't it count as being clutch if the score is tie? So the last shot in Denver's game isn't clutch, because the Rockets had 123 pts instead of 122 pts at the time of the shot? If the Rockets missed an extra free throw earlier in the game, then Brook's shot counts as clutch?

Since I referenced the shot tonight, I thought it was obvious I was referring to previous games.

I thought of the Knicks game too, but I couldn't think of any others. That game occurred in the middle of March, and this thread was created at the beginning of March.

Brooks has always been solid in late game situations (final minute of 4th) when we've been tied or had the lead. However, if we were ever trailing by a few points (with a chance to tie or take the lead), you could count on him to miss a free throw or force a bad shot.

It looks like that's changed though. Let's hope he can keep it up.

Hitting a game winning shot when the game is tied is still clutch, but not nearly as clutch as hitting the game winning shot when your team is trailing.

If the game is tied, the worst case scenario is overtime. There's no negative consequence. If your team is trailing and you miss, your team loses. There's simply more pressure in the 2nd scenario.

And if the Rockets missed an extra free throw earlier in the game, the entire flow and events of the game would change. You can't assume that everything would be linear. You don't know what would've happened. In an attempt to get the rebound off that hypothetical missed FT, Scola could've twisted an ankle and missed the rest of the game.

Havent heard the start Kyle Lowry chants lately, but has anyone bothered to notice that Lowry this year is only shooting 0.7% better from the field than Trevor Ariza? Lowry is Rafer-esque from the field, but praised for his decision making and go-getter tenacity. Yes his "true shooting" is better, but how many fans followed that with Rafer? Is that a "free pass" he's getting?

Which I kinda see as a positive for next year. If Lowry just shoots his career % 30 points higher then thats almost an automatic upgrade next year.

Yes. He was 2-2 late against the Wizards also.

Really his OVERALL free throw has been down the whole year. Maybe due to the bigger minutes this year. He's at .814 FT% this year. The past couple years he's been above 85%, so he needs to just shoot them better PERIOD, the way he's capable of shooting them.

He controls the tempo of the game EXTREMELY well. If not for him, the rockets would have sunk when the Cs went on a run.

Good decision-making is a 30% 3pt-shooter not taking multiple 3 pt shots. He can also finish the basket or get to the line, when he gets in the paint. I don't have to cover my eyes and pray for the shot like Rafer's tear drops.

Yeah, Brooks is not 4 out of 7 in Clutch type situations.

That's good enough to dispell the claim he's not a clutch player.

It's not a free pass at all with regards to Lowry. How many 3 pointer does he take in a game? If he was taking as many as Rafer or even Ariza, believe me he'd be getting complaints.
Brooks and Lowry have pretty different games, frankly I don't care who starts, and the number of minutes each gets will be based on matchups, not statistics or some subjective measure of how "good" they are.

You're still using that formula even you know its highly subjective and therefore useless?

I'm not trying to be mean, but I could've come up with a better metric when I was in grade school.
