Take Brooks stats. Add two shooting fouls per game to his shooting stats. Now figure out his new efficiency. It rockets out of sight. Lemme say something here. If Brooks ever learns the art of drawing the foul, LOOK OUT! He could average 30 ppg, very efficiently. It's the only offensive scoring skill Brooks lacks.
and would you consider yao an allstar? cause i wouldnt. outside of maybe martin, brooks is the closest thing to an all star we have
Yep. Yao Ming is an All-Star. He's been an All-Star for 7 or 8 years straight. Brooks? Never. Not once. Yao is a top 2 center in the league. Brooks? Top 20 PG. Some of you guys are vastly overrating Brooks....if he was so great, the Rockets would not have had won only 42 games last year.
Brooks situation depends on how many games we've won and his contribution to that. If we are performing well and his defense/assists are contributing to that, then he's a keeper. If we are in the hunt and his defense/assist are contributing, potential trade. Performing poorly on defense/assists and we're losing, he's out of here.
Think again on that last statement, AB was the main reason we won 42 games, who else can score from the PG position? I would hate to imagine AB being injured and Lowry becoming the full time starter. Brick city and the PG's from other teams would be all over the court doubling our other scorers. Please open your eyes and go back to the game against the C's in Boston on April 2nd and watch AB abuse Rondo.
Brooks was not the only reason the team won 42 games. Winning 42 games is nothing to boast about anyway. Wow some of you guys are ridicuous. Without Yao, we have a GOOD team full of GOOD players, lots of good role players. Aaron Brooks is not a star player. He's not even an All-Star. Together, the team won 42 games last year. That's not great. In fact, the team was expected to be a <.500 team so that team over achieved. Yao Ming's effect on this team is the effect of an all-star caliber player. He brings this team back to playoff contender. Aaron brooks could not do that last year, and proof was the 42 win season and no play offs. Aaron brooks will be traded this season. Guaranteed. The signing of Lowry is an indicator that Morey does not value Brooks as many of the Clutchfan members here do.
Did you expect more from someone that had been in the league for two years at the time, and in first full year as a starter? We had no all-stars playing last year, but managed to stay competitive throughout the season. For a depleted team, that was only expected to win 30 games or so, they did a mighty fine job. AB had a lot to do with that. I just don't get the AB hate. We are very fortunate to have both AB and KL as our PGs.
It's not AB hate. It's a realistic unbiased objective assessment of Aaron Brooks. Too many Clutchfan members here are blinded by their emotions as fans of the Houston Rockets. That's why so many people elevated Carl Landry to levels the rest of the league did not see. That's why Morey is the GM and the rest of you guys are fans. Morey knows the true value of his players. Morey does not think Brooks is a super star or ever could be. Aaron Brooks will not be an All-Star level player. Ever. If he did, no way would he sign Lowry to a 5 million a year contract. This year, Aaron Brooks will be traded for a legitimate All-Star player. Carmelo Anthony is a real possibility.
How so? You can have your opinion but your opinion is merit-less without facts. Yao Ming is an All-Star caliber player. Do you disagree? If you do, you are wrong and your opinions are not to be taken seriously. Aaron Brooks is not an All-Star caliber player. And you will see this as Morey trades Brooks this season for a true All-Star player like Carmelo.
Not sure where you get your info from, but start here.... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6971471.html
I don't know why people are arguing with this cat or kitten. His moniker is new, which probably means he was banned and come back as someone else. Wemissdeke, dreamshake, someone like that. What really crazy is the fact that playing with a 6'6 center and being the only major scoring threat in the west and win 42 games with injuries is still pretty good. Is brooks great? No, but he is the best player the rockets got and that hold especially true for late game situations. So wemissdeke, continue with your work.
Gosh, I wonder what Daryl Morey says about Brooks. ----------------------------------------- “We definitely think he has All-Star potential,” general manager Daryl Morey said. “I don’t like to project guys past that. He has shown each time he has been counted out, he’s made the next leap. We think he can make the leap to (being) an All-Star. “He can be a starting point guard on a championship team, for sure.” We see great things for Aaron going forward. More than half of this award’s winners (MIP) have gone on since 2000 to become an All-Star. We think Aaron has that in him.” ----------------------------------------- I think I will take the opinion of our GM, over that of a few miguided fans.... [/THREAD] DD
Ariza was a starting SF on a championship team....and that is not relevent to this discussion. Morey said: “He can be a starting point guard on a championship team, for sure.” You haters are looking pretty silly right about now. DD
Hahaha...you guys are silly. D Morey will always build up his players. But seriously now, if he believed A Brooks is the future of the franchise, why was A Brooks sweating last year during the trade dead line? Why did Morey resign Lowry to a five million dollar annual contract? Actions speak louder than words. As for people who are trying to say Yao Ming is anything less than an All-Star caliber player, this season will prove you haters wrong ONCE AGAIN. Yao Ming will be an All-Star this year. Aaron Brooks will get traded.
