Lets not take Lowry into account, we know he can't shoot as well as Brooks. We are simply talking about AB as the starting "PG"

Great he can space the floor, when he doesn't have the ball in his hands right.......

16FGA per game, 6 3pt FGA per game......but boy he can space the floor when the "PG" doesn't have the ball in his hands.

I dont think you understand what spacing the floor is and why it is so important in our offense.

In your scenario, why isn't Brooks scoring? Is it b/c his shot isnt falling? Spacing the floor only works when your shot is falling.

Actually after reading through your previous posts and seeing your replies, I think its pointless to continue trying to discuss things with you.

You seem to just shrug off the positives and try to paint your opposition into some sort of wording trap.

    Believe whatever you want.

Well let me tell you Mr.Mog....

Unknown: AB can score and run really fast with his 5'10 frame. Did I tell you he can really score.

MM: Well what happens if AB shot is not falling?

Unknown: AB can score, a scorer always scores man, he creates spacing?

MM: Well lets just say AB goes 1-20 FGA. What can AB do to help his team out?

Unknown: AB just needs to shoot 10 more times so he can score man, its due time

    MM: How about Defense?

Unknown: Defense??? AB is quick man, for whatever points he gives up, AB will score. Also we got KM

MM: How about his court Vision?

Unknown: Court Vision? The man can flat out score. He is 25 (26 in Jan), he can easily develop better court vision with his 5'10 frame.

MM: If a team offered Brooks for Melo, would you do it?

Unknown: Why man AB can score, check all the past championship teams, they had scoring PG who can score man.

MM: You mean like Tony Parker, who had the greatest PF ever and Manu and coached by one of the greatest defensive coaches in the league

Unknown : You fool AB is better than Tony Parker, because unlike Tony Parker, AB can hit the 3 ball. He can score man.

MM: Okay so what you are saying is, if Rockets had the ability to upgrade the Roster and Brooks had to be traded, you wouldn't do it?

Unknown: Well you know only if its for Kobe or LBJ...

MM: That's all the time we have folks, thanks for tuning in on why AB is so valuable and we can't trade him to better the Rocket Roster.

    My stance on AB

    Positive
He is a scorer, he can shoot from all over the floor.
    He can create spacing
He is fast and can cause defense issues when guarded by a slower PG
    He works hard

I can admit the good things about him

My main beef is with folks who won't trade him for a better upgrade (aka Melo) and than people stating Lowry can't start if we lose AB. Depending on the Roster, Lowry can start.

Plus i like to have fun at the end of the day, I still have the same respect for every single poster on this board. I don't hate people, i don't hold grudges.

    I luv you guys.

Wow... how naive are you? If AB has an off night or goes on a bad shooting streak like all NBA players go through every now and then, what else can he do for the team? He is a one dimensional player who doesn't get to the FT line, plays a poor level of D, and is a mediocre playmaker at best. That means, when he is cold, he actually becomes a liability to the team. We take away his strongest point because his strongest point can come and go at any given night. It can come and go for any NBA player. If AB can't score, what else can he do to make the Rockets better? Lowry has many things he can do, but AB doesn't. How hard is that to understand?

Also, just to make things clear for your low level of reading comprehension, I do not hate AB. I have said so in this thread and many others that I prefer AB in the lineup with Yao if Yao is able to produce due to AB's range and Lowry's lack of one. I merely believe that Lowry is a better player for the team overall, especially if we get another scorer to work with Martin, Scola, and Yao. Think about it this way, even if Lowry loses what little shot he has, he still can significantly contribute with his court vision, ability to get to the FT line and put the opposite team in foul trouble, and tough one on one defense.

Why is Terry Porter is starting? because he is old and retired.Terry Porter has started 100% games when he could shoot and was in his prime in Portland.

Why is Manu not starting? because he can be a best 6th man, thanks for his scoring from the bench. Still he started 47% games he played.

why is Maggett not starting? because he is old and inefficient. He started most (95%) games when he was younger and trigger happy.

why Al Harrington not starting? because he is also old and has played for Knicks. He started most games when he learned how to shoot and was not playing for Knicks.

Brooks explosion is what creates the space, not just his range. To those having problems wih this picture let me paint it for you.

Pre-brooks and even scola, the rox had yao, tracy, rafer, shane, and chuck. In that lineup, the only guy worth guarding close were yao and tracy. Why? Rafer was a terrible, streaky shooter who couldn't break down guys consistently, chuck has zero offense, and shane can't beat a guy off the floor despite being a good 3 pt shooter. So come playoff time, against a team like utah, they could stay a step closer to yao and tracy.

Enter brooks, scola, and artest vs the blazers. Since brooks not only has range to 25ft or so and can get to the rim vs any player off the dribble, the defense has to play closer to him, but far enough back to prevent the blow by. Scola has range to right at 20ft, so now the defense has to honor his range and shot from there. Artest, as cooky as people make him out to be, he shot well from 3 and he could still get by players, but couldn't finish as he did in previuos seasons. So now his man has to stay close also. What does all this equal to? Yao basically playing 1 on 1 with room to move and operate. Take out brooks, add lowry along with shane and the opponet has 2 people they can sag off of and sink. Yes martin is good off the picks and such, but to get the true spacing, the rockets need threats. Thats what makes la so effecient offensively. The movement and the threats of guys creates seasms and creases for the post players to operate. Spacing isn't all stand around the 3 pt line and wait for kickout. I personally think those days are gone because we don't know if yao can function in that capacity anymore. Its not that hard.

well the speed he does not lose.... ;) thought he improved his court vision, awareness. Wasn't he MIP and I don't think they gave it to him just because of the scoring. Give some effing credit where it is due dude.

AB 's scoring can come and go.
    Lowry's scoring is never there.

Yeah let's ignore AB's advantage and Lowry's disadvantage, then compare them.....How clever.

Court vision, Get to FT line, defense---> these things can also come and go. no? please show me these nice things Lowry did in the playoffs......

It is always pointless talking to idiots, but I will try... It is funny how you chose Lowry's first playoff series ever to try to make a comparison. How about the fact that this was after he was traded to the Rockets after the deadline and still needed time to gel? Remember what happened to AB's first playoffs? Probably not, since you have your face buried in his jock strap. Also, when the hell did I ever not acknowledge Lowry's shooting deficiency? I have stated it multiple times. Scoring is not just about shooting. A prime example is Martin; even when he is off from downtown, he still gets his 20. Lowry has shown multiple times he can score, but because he also focuses on getting his mates involved, when he can't score, he can still contribute.

bullcrap. parker was never a passer. he was always a scorer. he doesn't have great court vision unless he is driving in for a layup to score. the only true point guards to win a title is magic johnson. stockton was the only other pure point guards. unless you are stockton, pg need to be able to score. this nonsense that brooks doesn't help out the team is ridiculous. scoring 20 points a night is always going to help out a team

His speed will be more useful if he can actually finish at the rim through contact. AB's biggest problem is that he is more inclined to shoot than drive, very much like T-Mac.

Scoring 20 does not always help. If he scores 20 on 20 shots, that is not helping the team. Scoring 20 also doesn't help when the guy scores 20 on you on the other end as well. Basketball is not that simple.

the difference is he's a 40 percent 3 point shooter. and we had no one to shoot last year. as long as he is at 43 or 44 percent brooks is fine. he will never have real high field goal percentage. but thats ok. he drills 3 balls whenever we need them

also the tony parker comparison comes from the fact that kobe bryant himself said you have to guard brooks like he is tony parker. he was killing fisher and the lakers. he is fast as lightning. while parker gets to the hole and shoots a very high percentage, higher than almost every guard in the league, he has no outside shot and can't hit freethrows
