You're kidding right, didn't we just go over this just a few weeks ago?? There are several teams with very good point guard duos. Besides, I would much rather have a great point guard like Chris Paul or dare I say Deron Williams than two above average point guards. If we could could trade either to get Bosh then that's a done deal for me.

Because that work out so well in the past with Rafer and all the other 'traditional' PGs Yao worked with.

Meanwhile, Brooks and Yao were good enough to get us to and out of the first round last year, so I'm ok with seeing how they mesh, when Brooks no longer has to be the primary scorer on the court.

    Myths that need to be dispelled;

    1. A shoot first PG is unable to pass.

    2. To win a championship you must have an elite player at every position.

First of all, at the end of my post I already apologised for making a topic that MIGHT have already been done, so I tried to put a spin on it and make a very thoughtout comparison to keep it fresh. Second, you're the only one who seems to care that it's been a topic of discussion already.

Now, as I stated in my OT again, why grab an eliet point guard and waist the money when we can surround a good tandum with great talent. Plus if we were to trade Brooks or Lowry, who would be the back up?

You gotta be kidding me. Nash was MVP when Staudomire missed an entire season, averaging 10+ assists.

Watch some more Suns games. It is Nash who makes Staudomire look better than who he is, not the other way around.

I can't read, I misconstrued the title to say racist and not rarest.

    Wow.

Rarest duo? I'm not sure. Most of the time the point guard duos are staggered, in that the primary guard brings both the talents of Lowry and Brooks, and then the secondary is just a maintenance player. But, in recent years I think that's beginning to change. Look at Dragic and Nash. Those two seem to compliment each other in the same ways Brooks and Lowry do. I think in this NBA with there being so many busts and injuries, a lot of duties that used to be reserved to one player are now expanded to two. Hell, even one center isn't enough to get you through the playoffs anymore...

They sure are! So rare, in fact, that the Rockets are the only team that HAS a Brooks/Lowry backcourt tandem.

I rather get a good backup center, we dont how Yao will play this season, and we need someone who can play well for like 20-25 mins while Yao is resting, or playing as a starter if Yao suffers another injury.

Sorry for the double post but I had to comment on this guy...

Give me a break please, I did post a great comparison and argument that can bring up a great discussion. It's not like I just put something out the for the sake of it, I explained throughly, made a great comparison and explanation.

Please, I know this board is getting quiet because of the post season, but please respect my opinion and post something significant to my topic, or don't write anything at all...

Anyways, in the talent and attibute that they both have are in fact very rare in the NBA tandum PG. If you have to say otherwise, give an example that will simulate the topic. Thanks...

The worship for Brooks leading a 42-40 team is really rare indeed. Maybe the long period of losing has lowered the standards of fans in Houston? Was Mr. Solomon right, perhaps, in calling out fans for accepting mediocrity?

There was no worship of either, just an appreciation of the tandum.

And what long period of losing have we gone through?

Mr. Solomon was not right in the fact that us fans look forward to a positive perspective in the future. Knowing the Rockets were not at there best only gives us hope for the future.

If you begg to differ, how could you consider yourself a true Rockets fan?

Define a "true" Rockets fan? What is a "true" Rockets fan? A kool aid drinker? How many championships have the Rockets had since the last one? How many second round playoffs appearance have the Rockets had in the past 10 years?

Heck, how many posters here were born after the last Rockets championship? Do you need me to go on?

Mr. Solomon was not happy with a 42-40 season, and neither am I, all excuses and everything else included. If you are happy with such mediocrity then go ahead you are entitled to whatever makes you happy.

No one is happy about missing the playoffs. A lot of us including myself are very frustrated for being able to go only once into the 2nd round in ten years. I do think it was unrealistic to expect more from a Yao and McGrady less team this year.

Next year is going to be very hard unless we get another star plus an overall improvement in our defense, and that is not likely to happen in my opinion.

I really like Lowry. He's got the poise and that killer attitude. I think he'll have a much better showing this upcoming seasons, I like the glimpse of talent he has shown with the stint in Houston so far
