Slightly OT: Mourinho is back at Chelsea. Doesn't seem like any of his predecessors got visits from the vory v zakone, as someone suggested. All alive and well.
Yes money is no object but Prokhorov isn't blind or deaf, if the small market Pacers team dismantles his 200M roster in a 4-0 sweep in the playoffs he's gonna become the laughing stock of not just the NBA, but the entire world. This is the same treatment Paul Allen received when he was paying a similar payroll during the jailblazer era.
And here I thought only people paid by the ny media would write that crap (his slow feet and lack of width is what makes him a poor anchor, and ultimately makes Brooklyn a crap defensive team despite the talent around him).
No one thought the Boston experiment, with no bench and a rookie PG and a fairly crappy coach, could work either.
A broken down Pierce still averaged 19 points a game this year. People act like Pierce has compltely fallen off
The big question mark this team has is coaching. They definitely will get out of the 1st round this year. Why are people bashing them for "buying" a title? Miami did it, and you can say the same about Houston considering our two best players came via trade and free agency.
And they are spending 182 million on their roster... Rockets and Miami are paying less than half that

I have done what I can. Now I think it is high time for the team to do the rest I am not a man of procedure. I am a man of results In the NBA, money, it’s important, but you can’t buy a championship only spending money. What’s most important is to put pieces together [for] a championship contender, http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/nets/spending_spree_wNHPSxqc5BxvuSp6QzGSrK I guess we will see if he gets the results, but he has put his money where his mouth is. You can't say that about most owners.
They can beat the Heat. Deron Williams needs to play like the Williams of Utah Jazz. Joe Johnson needs to play better without the ball. Ak47, Paul Pierce, and terry all can play without the ball. Garnett doesn't really have to be Garnett offensively, just defensively. Lopez will get his offensively. They can match the small ball of Heat. Kidd has played against the Heat and won so he knows how to beat them.
Why didn't they hire Phil Jackson? If you're going to spend 180 millions, why cut corners with the coach?
One game, first game, just the start of the season so no need to overreact with these losses (like with LAC and BK) but I was never sold on them (Brooklyn).
