And from Orlando's perspective, I would rather have Patterson, Hill, and Motiejunas than Lopez and his bad foot or Bynum and his bad knees.

I don't think so. We have more ability to take back salary from Orlando, long term salary, and leave them with the ability to rebuild much quicker. We have the ability to take on every contract that goes past 2013 on their roster and give them all expirings, young players and a couple picks besides. Bynum/Pau clog up their cap. They have to decided to re-sign Bynum or let him walk. And it does not make them significantly better. They would basically be the Lakers without Kobe and Lamar. Not real good.
