I read the title I assumed it was for the OC. I would go Kyle Shanahan before Dennison though I'm guessing denver wont go for a young coach this time around... It would suck to lose dennsion but they gotta let him interview if hes moving up the coaching ladder...
I don't know what's worse. The fact that the Broncos really want Kubiak, or the fact that the Texans aren't willing to give him up... How the Hell can a HC with a losing record and consistent ability to blow games get so much love!? Dude must have a ton of dirt on people.
Elway apparently tweeted that John Fox will be the next Broncos HC. On my phone so no link, but Dennison stays, I guess.
After saying "I bleed orange and blue.....I'm just working in Houston right now", Dennison can take a ****ing hike. I understand lobbying for a job that you really want, but you don't have to crap on your current employer and their fan base in the process of doing it.
Link? I don't mind him expressing his love for the team that he was with for his entire career ... but I also don't want to take his Houston comment out of context. I'd have to hear the way he said it I guess.
I'm not offended by what he said. He was a part of the Broncos org since 1982, almost 27 years, he spent one year in Houston. The Broncos gig was likely his dream job, NFL coaches and players are mostly mercenaries that have very little loyalty or long-term ties to any particular city or organization. I'm not shocked Dennison is more of a Bronco than a Texan, just as much as I'd not be shocked if Rudy or Hakeem said they were more of a Rocket than a Laker/Raptor during their brief time elsewhere. Dude was lobbying to get his first head coaching gig, and his biggest appeal was his ties to Bronco nation. I don't fault him for playing that up, I was wishing he would get the job, to be honest. Can't hate on a guy for looking out for #1.
Why is an ex linebacker our offensive coordinator? Don't you usually coach the same side of the ball as you played, are there other examples of that around the; or are we the Texans?
Don't know why, but he's been coaching for 16 years and has always been on the offensive side of the ball. In Denver, he was an offensive assistant then the special teams coach then the OLine coach and then took over as offensive coordinator when Kubiak left. Then when McDaniels took over, he was bumped back down to OLine coach and then he came here. He was a tight end in college.
I don't mind him feeling that way...but he should have the sense to wait until after getting the job to say it publicly to the press....or omit that part about Houston.
Well, I bet he said it matter-of-factly and not disparingly: "I just work in Houston," as opposed to "I just work in Houston."
It's the principle of the matter that offends me. I understand that he was a member of Denver's organization for 25+ years, and that he feels incredibly loyal to them, but Houston is the team that's given him a chance as an OC. Houston is the team that he currently goes to battle for ( ), and Houston is the team that writes his paychecks. If it wasn't FOR Houston, he wouldn't even be getting INTERVIEWED for that job. Like I said, I understand doing whatever you can to play up your position, but you DON'T have to be disrespectful to the people who gave you your chances. I'm sorry, but when you say things like "I just work in Houston", you're opening yourself up to a lot of speculation. It's better to just leave the last part out, and simply profess your love of Denver.
Not that big of a deal, but sheesh....come on. Common sense would tell you that you shouldn't burn any bridges in the NFL of all places - especially if you haven't even crossed them yet. If I were Bob McNair, I think I'd have a little talk with him in my office before I signed another one of his paychecks. [cheap shot]But apparently, Bob McNair never gets pissed off at ANYTHING, so that probably won't happen.[/cheap shot]
yeah it just doesn't strike me as disrespectful. he probably signed an "at-will" contract just like the rest of us had to when we accepted our jobs. at the end of the day, it's a JOB and that's all it is. we're not talking patriotic allegiance or marital fidelity here.
