Sounds stupid to me, You don't move into the #1 spot with that little of an offer. Want a better guage of what top 5 picks are worth? see Williams, R.
The only way I would trade with the Broncos is if I got the 2 first rounders this year, plus their second and a first and second or third next year. I really like the idea of having 2 firsts next year becuase Quinn and Peterson will be available and we could pick whichever one we need more - Quinn if Carr flounders this year or Peterson if Carr is solid.
All they would have to do is add a 2nd round pick this season and I am all over this trade- Reason- All you need is a backup running back to groom behind DD. Get a good running back at #15- there could be a Lendale White or equal there. (especially since everyone is talking about Bush splitting time with DD) next you pick up an extra 1st round pick and an extra 2nd round pick. You already have one 2nd round pick and 2 3rd round picks- Look at the holes you are trying to fill- Offensive lineman- (1) Cornerback- (1) Wide Receiver- (1) Middle Linebacker- (1) Free Safety- (1) Outside Linebacker- (1) You still get a quality back up to DD, plus you have 5 high picks to address your needs. We signed a veteran middle linebacker but you need to upgrade the position. We signed a veteran receiver but we need to upgrade the position. We signed a good center, we need a right guard and a tackle. We need a good free safety. Wong is coming off serious knee surgery. We have alot of holes. A great draft would solidify our future. Build a step at a time with good draft picks. (Please Mr. Casserly- let Mr. Kubiak run the draft)
I see this as a very unlikely move. We do have holes, but I doubt most of them will be filled using the draft. I just don't see the Texans passing up on Bush.
I don't know, if you're gonna select a RB, you might as well go with the best and pick Bush. With the #15, I'd rather go with a WR than a RB, Santonio Holmes would be a good pick.
I think Gary and Charlie have already proven to us that they're bent on making lots of smart moves this offseason. They're not going to follow up all these great FA signings with a stupid move like passing up on Reggie Bush.
Not trying to start the whole debate again, but the smart move would be to trade down and get more picks. This draft is incredibly deep, we can easily find 1-2 starters in the 2nd or even the 3rd round.
I don't think that is enough either. #15 + #22 + 1st next year (assume 20s) < overall #1. Probably have to add another future #1 (08 or 09) or multiple midround picks in 06 and 07. I don't see it happening at all, besides Denver doesn't really need a QB.
#1, the Broncos QB had one of the best years in the league last year. #2, Houston doesn't need a new tailback or improved kick returner either--both starters are superior by leagues standards relative to the Texan's QB at this point, they just have more palatable contracts than the QB.
We don't need a new QB? How many single digit QB rating games does Carr need to play before people stop giving him a free pass? Carr is at best a middle of the road QB. I've seen enough.
Carr may need to be replaced if he continues to struggle this season. Vince Young is not the man to replace David.
Your reply was the only ingnorant statement in this thread. It's an honest question. How long does he get a free pass? The fans were booing him last year and rightfully so. They will boo him even more this year if he continues to play like he did last year. I hope Kubiak is right and he can win with Carr. I'd prefer a QB smart enough to throw the ball away and not take unnecessary sacks, who doesn't lock on to one reciever and can make a progression of reads both before and after the snap to get the best result from each and every play. Carr has never demonstrated the ablilty to do any of those things on a consistent basis. Look at his QB ratings by Quarter. 1ST QUARTER 69.4 2ND QUARTER 84.7 3RD QUARTER 90.0 4TH QUARTER 58.0 FOURTH QUARTER WITHIN 7 63.3 He's horrible at the start of games and at the end of games. He plays OK in the middle but not well enough that I'd say we don't need to be looking at other QB's if there are 3 good ones at the top of the draft.
Here is another interesting stat for you : Carr's QB rating OUTSIDE the pocket is over 100 - what does that tell you about our Oline. No QB in the league could function efficiently with the type of pressure Carr has faced, not to mention his lack of receivers. Look at what happened to both Brady and Manning in the playoffs when the Broncs and the Steelers were in their faces on every play - they palyed poorly. You can call these excuses or whatever you want, but they are facts - undebatable facts. I am not even going to mention the absolutely stupid basic offense we ran last year. I am not saying Carr is the greatest QB in the league but he has not be given a fair shot to succeed- period.
