Thanks for DOLPHIN2k2 for pointing this out:

[rQUOTEr]The Rockets have known for quite some time that Asik wants out. Word is he was told the club would sign no center ahead of him when he agreed to join Houston as a free agent in 2012. When Dwight Howard was lured this past summer, Asik reminded them of his and quietly asked to be moved.

The Rockets tried to play Howard and Asik together, but the presence on the floor of two non-shooters was a problem. And Asik, who will be a free agent again after next season, told the team he would not be able to get his minutes and rebound numbers with Howard around.[/rQUOTEr]

People talked a lot about how Asik was immature in pouting over minutes. I still don't think it was right for him to decide to sit out, but there was a specific promise made to him that the team broke. It's at least understandable why he'd be angry.

What did he tell Ariza when he joined us?

    It's a business.

Love Omer; not AT ALL angry with him wanting PT, but it's a business.

You can still grant him his wish to be traded,if it wouldn't be for him there would be no Playoffs or Howard.
    I actually feel for him

I have never faulted Asik for wanting to be moved. This is a different NBA. It's not personal, it's just business.

We don't know if this is what actually happened, or its the version of what happened from Asik's agent. Maybe the Rockets promise only was for last year, giving him a full season as our starting center.

There isn't a GM on the planet that would make a promise like that to a FA with the intention of keeping it. Who knows...maybe he said "we won't sign another C ahead of unless the best center in the league wants to play here".

The article didn't state whether managment said "we won't sign anybody ahead of you now" or "we won't sign anybody ahead of you for all three of your years here". Two VERY different scenarios.

Howard was signed to play BEHIND Asik... but Howard beat Asik out for the spot.

    Classic mistake.

Oh boo hoo, cry me a river.

    This is a bidness.

Sad that a player would rather play for a scrub team as long as it means that he's getting empty stats over contributing on a contending team. Sad and pathetic.

Oh and insert Woody Harrelson GIF

The only new information is that he was promised the starting C spot. We already knew he has been upset since this summer

    Yeah.

Doesn't make a lot of sense considering the fact that Morey was after Howard way before Asik was even signed.

    asik logic:

    wants more playing time.

    refuses to play.

    wants to be traded:

plays half-assed and lowers his own trade value

If this even happened. Funny that it comes from the city who was reported to be our most likely trade partner.

Lol you really think Howard would have joined forces with Kevin Martin and Lin?
Everyone and their mothers knew Dwight would go to a strong Team like the Lakers.
