Ok, I hear you, but just because she's a mom, doesn't mean she can't go out and have fun...Parents, especially single parents are entitled to go out and have fun now and again...It's just that she's in the spotlight that makes this more than what it is, IMHO...nice beaver...
I love the perception of people in the world. You know, Britney was a terrible singer, an average performer and essentially an average-looking girl whose producers just happened to know how to push the right dirty-old-men buttons by having her sing less-than-memorable songs dressed up in skanky outfits all the while knowing that she'd flash that Mickey Mouse club schoolgirl smile and people would drool. She turned into this lusted-after icon, when, in reality, she's just a poor southern kid who wanted to make babies. She makes dumb choices - the kinds of dumb choices all of us made under the age of 25 - divorces one of those dumb choices and is crucified by the media because, as a young, divorced woman who probably isn't that bright, she wants to do what all young, not-so-bright women want to do when they have a lot of money and are pissed at their ex's: party. And who better to party with than the Queen of Parties, Paris Hilton? She also wants to try and resurrect a career that ain't coming back because no one thinks she's cute and innocent anymore, plus the industry has passed her by and she's become more of a sideshow than a performer. All of this is done under the scrutiny of an ever-invasive gossip-mongering media that photographs every public moment and does their best to be as sellacious as possible - long lenses capturing people topless sunbathing in their own yards, cameras positioned to get shots of women as they get out of cars and expose themselves. And guess who is to blame for all of this: we are. We are so fixated on celebrities and what they are doing, that we demand that we see this crap. This is a frigging basketball bulletin board and we're debating the career of a pop star with no artistic merit and debateable looks. We're worse than a bunch of gossipy 50's era grandmothers sitting around the bingo parlor talking about how disgusting it is that women wear skirts that allow them to see their ankles while they rip through the pages of Look Magazine to see the latest bathing suit photos from their favorite starlet. You guys complain so much about the RIAA and the media, yet they completely have your number. Their brilliance is so deceptive, even you think that making fun of Spederline is funny when, in reality, it's just helping them sell papers, push blog ad revenue and keep Nancy O'Dell from working as a weekend anchor in Columbus. I find that hilarious.
Wanna bet? Britney's career has got legs. BTW Britney's innonence train left the station when at 14 she performed braless for Nickelodeon.
Don't count Britney out yet. People said the same things about Madonna... But it's pretty sad when we look back to the K-Fed days as her more responsible phase....
I think the difference between Madonna and Britney is Madonna is a smart business woman. I can't think of any female singer that has had the longevity on the pop scene as long as she has. I watched some of her concert on NBC the other night and she still has it going on. Britney has done nothing to suggest she has a brain.
I used to care about when she would hit Playboy, but even that pales when I realize she wouldnt even be the second-best looking woman in any given issue and jeff is right she has little to none actual talent...she has thrived in our celebrity-driven culture just because of her image. but in Hangout...this is par for the course so discuss away.
I didn't think I would ever see the word "snatch" in an AP article that actually referred to a vagina.
Um, not really, but she is good about hiring the hot producers of the moment to surround her crappy voice. She has a good ear for fresh music, but if she were left to her own devices, I doubt she could write anything that anyone would want to listen to.
I did a double-take at that too. Of course, entertainment-business journalism in general uses writing that wouldn't be acceptable just about anywhere else.
Hit it and quit it. Actually.. after seeing that, I was a little turned off.. I guess I was expecting something more. For someone who has millions, you'd think she'd take better care for it and make it glow or something.. Anyways.. next up, Christina Aguilera and Shakira! Well she did make out with her, maybe she thought she'd steal a little bit of Madonna's mojo that way. Speaking of making out.. I was more turned on by Christina's kiss that Britney.
Ok. I have to admit that I added the word "snatch." It just sounded better than "crotch" in the context of this article....
All's I'm saying...is don't count Britney out yet. She's had better longevity than many of her peers, and could surround herself with good producers, writers etc. She has a decent voice, and excellent presence. This is show biz...stranger things have happened. And madonna was pretty much dismissed -- at the time -- With hindsight, we can point to how she was 'different' -- but back in the 80's she was just the 'flavour of the day' - a product of marketing -- soon to be forgotten. A good business person?? I think Spears Inc is doing OK. Singing voice? -- Adequate for what she takes on...just needs someone to feed her the appropriate material. (not unlike many successful singers) Presence -- outstanding. As long as she keeps her knickers on...and steers clear of the cocaine sisters. Look for a new Britney in a couple of years. She's done well for about 10 years so far. Maybe a more 'serious album?' I don't know. Something to transition her. But it's a helluva machine behind her...and she's fronted it pretty well so far. I think North Star was pretty bummed about the kid thing. Which is a shame really. Because after the failed relationship with the out of work, white trash, dancer, wanna-be rapper guy, I suspect Britney was looking forward to a shot with a bitter, bbs-posting guy with a fetish for old NHL teams from Minnesota. Her loss, I suppose.
