My recollection is that Robbie Williams tried to launch in America at the exact same time Ricky Martin was launching in America. Two videos. La Vida Loca and whatever Robbie Williams was putting out. Obviously, La Vida Loca was the hottest video in a long long time and a great tune. It remains so. Robbie Williams had a piss poor video and the music was not at the same level. He got crushed. Women and Men loved Ricky. Robbie was pushed aside like a dork. TRL had a lot to do with it.
They didn’t do their research before pumping all that money into this film. Americans only love chimps and apes in “Planet of the Apes” films. Someone else tried to sell a film outside that franchise and he would probably agree this was a bad idea.
Ironically that film got good critics but does not draw the audience...... usually it is the other way. I did not know critics loved apes.
It’s the Uncanny Valley effect. Not many people are interested in seeing something that is obviously NOT human trying very hard to APPEAR human. Whoever greenlit this project was high on meth.
When I saw the trailer, I chuckled..................I mean it's a Monkey who is human, I just didn't "get it"......not even sure I would watch it if it came to streaming, just not my cup of tea.
