As long as we are looking for off-the-wall solutions, how about taking a page out of the Spurs wish book:

Before they lost Tony Parker to an ankle injury last month, San Antonio tried to convince Lithuania point guard Sarunas Jasikevicius to jump to the NBA. Jasikevicius outdueled Parker at the European Championships, then followed the semifinal victory over France by leading his country to an unexpected championship triumph over Pau Gasol's Spain. It's the same Jasikevicius who nearly shot Lithuania to a massive upset of the United States at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, and the same Jasikevicius (as if there's another) who played collegiately at Maryland. Instead of coming back to the States at 27, Jasikevicius is serving a one-year contract with Israeli club power Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Hmmmmmm.....

The way it works is, Steve can do most things a PG should do, and MOST things a SG should do.

What we need is for the other guy in the backcourt to do the few things that Steve can't do...i.e., distribute the ball, almost never turn it over, defend SG's, and be able to get the ball into Yao Ming as effortlessly as possible.

    Bobby Jackson??

He is no more of a PG than Steve is. BJ is a scorer 1st and passer 2nd. He averages less assists per 48 than SF does. His FGA/assist ratio is also higher than Steve's.

Are you kidding me... I love watching King's games and I've seen Bobby Jackson pass the ball in ways I can never conceive of steve doing. He's not a shoot first and pass second pg... if anything he's 50/50.

Ive watched him play also. Plus, the stats say he is no more of a pass first/shoot second PG than Steve is. If he is 50/50, then so is Steve and since Steve is a better overall player.................

Jackson is a scoring PG. He is not a playmaker and is not an upgrade over Steve as a PG.

shoot first, pass first, who cares. what bothers me more is the dribble first thing.

    Vice versa.

The same thing can be said about each. You can call both good passing SGs and good scoring PGs.

Funny thing is, Jackson averages more FGA per 48 (21.3 to 19.1) than Steve does. He also averages less A per 48 (5.2 to 7.1) than Steve does.

how about TOs :D Frankly, Steve is only a servicable PG. I don't
think he's passing is as good as BJax. Also, BJax was the sixth
man of last year. He's used as a spark plug from the bench and
expected to shoot more in his limited time. Comparing his FGA to
Steve per 48 is not very meaningful, just like Yao's league-leading
    efficiency per 48.

I'm sure Francis got b****ed at during halftime, cuz he didn't have many assists during the 1st half.

He took so many clinkers in the last three games. why not drive and kick it to someone for score.

"That's our big man, our All-Star. I feel like every time he gets the ball, he's going to score. So I might as well give it to him.'' - Lebron James on feeding the big man, Zydrunas Ilgauskas

After seeing that quote, I really really envy the point guard that the Cavaliers have in Lebron. James is only a rookie, too, which makes his attitude as astounding as his talent.

I'm a big fan of Stevie, but Lebron James is living proof that a player can have tons of talent and have a team-first, assist-first attitude.

Have faith in Steve Francis, though. He knows what he wants, and what it'll take to get there--no matter how many losses it'll cost for him to fully actualize that knowledge.

Disagree with Francis being a serviceable PG. He's frustrating to watch sometimes, but his scoring and rebounding ability make him a good point guard regardless of him not being an old school PG.

I'd like to see Francis play every SG minute Mobley doesn't play. I would like to see the rockets bring in a backup PG like Tinsley or Crawford to replace Moochie. My thoughts at this moment are that the Rockets might not have to trade much for Tinsley in terms of players, but may have to eat a salary with trade exception to give Pacers flexible salary cap.

The dribbles are required while the Guards decide on their shot, they only pass when they have concluded that they cant make a conclusion.

Sounds good, the only problem with that is that Crawford seems to think he is the second coming of Magic Johnson and seems to cause a stink whenever someone thinks otherwise.

FRancis is no point gaurd, he had 7 assists last night, big deal. the 2 games before that he had 2 assists COMBINED for both games. HE HASN'T PLAYED LIKE A POINT GAURD since his rookie year when he knew if he didn't pass Barkley would whip his ass. he gets way too much attention with his penetration not to have at least 8 assissts per game. I could understand when there was nobody to dish to but he has so many weapons now there is no excuse. look at the other players body language when steve just dribbles down the court and shoots the ball, they look disgusted.Mobley is less unselfish than steve, I never thought I would say that.
