No.....he was never convicted of anything. His daughters were bitter over their mothers death and she didn't change the benficiery of her will. It was still Calvin except they were divorced. My understanding is that the daughters were left with nothing and made up the malicious story to extort the money from Calvin. The Rockets i'm sure at the time wanted to distance themselves from Calvin's bad publicity. But the fans love him why not bring him back? If this is our forum why can't we band together and raise hell!

    HEYPARTNER! :D

The Rockets are fine without him. Hes not a good analyst, hes just goofy and loud. From a business and professional point of view I see why Les does not want a guy with 10 kids from 5 different wives back(something like that). Even if he was innocent with his case against his daughters. You would never see my daughter taking me to court for anything!!! Theres something behind that for sure.

I thought hes suppost to get a job as a coach. Lets see how that goes.
I am not too hot about athletes becoming commentators and coaches just because of there past history as athletes.

I'm just saying. Sure its fun to listen to him, and watch him eat cookies in those funny suits. But the guy is a joke professional.

Everyone loved Calvin because of all the things you listed...the cookies his goofyness, his suits all that...but theres another thing everyone should have noticed since his departure...no one is as exciting or even as good as calvin was...not Van Chancelor, not Clyde, not Matt Bullard...it was fun to watch a rockets game and have bill and calvin joking around that was part of the excitiment of watching games on tv rather then attending the summit/compaq center...i ono i just think it would be better for a business standpoint to bring calvin back then not...

he knows basketball way more then he shows

I'd rather listen to Geeno and Jim on the radio and watch the game then Calvin. He can be "exciting" to the casual fan, but I don't need excitement watching the game. I want in depth info and anlysis....and sometimes a Holy Cow and How sweet it is!

Calvin is not an institution like those two...so foregt about it and move on!

Its all goin to hell after this year when Geeno and Jim retire.......

    Mehdi....you said it right

" he knows basketball way more then he shows"

thats why some people just don't translate into TV. Try coaching Calvin. Maybe hes a better as a motivater.

You are in the minority, and, officially I declare, your opinion STEEENKS.

Did you actually say 'I don't need excitement during the games'? Good grief.

i work in the gym at the houstonian, clyde comes in usually a couple times a week but it's mostly right before we close. i think that day he was with one older guy and a younger kid, maybe his son? i know his daughter comes in every once and a while. i never say more than what's up to him because i don't want to interrupt his workout. anyways, i specifically heard him tell his buddy he was going light that day while they were on the bench press so that's probably why he was only doing 120 on the leg press.

i'm like the only asian dude there, say what's up, it's always good to meet another rockets fan.

oh and calvin is the man, i need to check if 97.5 podcasts his shows.

You are in the miniscule minority on this. Clyde was literally rated the worst color commentator. It's true watching him is almost tragic. I found myself watching even when we were 20 points down when Calvin was in there.

Calvin just doesn't do it for me. Is he better than Clyde...perhaps......but the game itself is exciting enough......I would listen to the radio and watch the game if it wasn't for that delay. Its a moo point, Calvin isn't coming back....

I think TSU would have something to say about the Rockets bringing Calvin back, now.

calvin is too lazy to coach in college where you have to be hard working and responsible, but hes a helluva alot more entertaining than clyde on tv.

Bullard is much better than Clyde but Bull is kind of goofy and well I just think he is ok maybe a little better than average. Clyde (I go to all the home games so I don't hear him much) is not very good imo, he works to hard at being "funny" and it plays out real bad.

I thought Van was really good and knew what he was talking about, sure there were growing pains and it took time to adjust to a thick Mississippi accent but he really was good.

Calvin, well I like Calvin but I can see how some folks dont really care for him and while he shouldnt lose his job for what turned out to be false alligations I can see how Les might of wanted to move in a different direction.

As far as Bill goes I still think he is on top of his game and I really belive that he is one of the best basketball play by play guys around

Were the allegations ever proven false our was he just found not guilty? The only thing I've ever heard was that he wasn't convicted. OJ wasn't convicted either, but I don't think many people would say that means the allegations against him were proven false.

I used to love Calvin or who I thought he was. For years when the Rockets were losing, he was the only reason I'd watch their games. But there's no way I believe that 5 daughters are going to go through all the media scrutiny they went through to make vicious allegations against their own daughter after being left out of a will. There's no way a DA is going to bring charges like that against one of Houston's heroes without strong evidence.

Even if people don't believe the allegations against him, do you really think daughters would do anything like this if he was any kind of a decent father? He seemed like a great guy to me on the surface too, but I can't ignore the other facts of this case. It's painful to face, but he's not the guy I thought he was and wanted him to be. There's a lot more important issues here than who announces Rockets basketball games.

I can see why Les would be reluctant because of Calvin's personal life, maybe because he's worried about losing ratings based on that, or maybe because he doesn't want articles and reports about it.

But seriously...regarding the publicity and articles and reports: Who actually will think his personal business will be much reported on anyways. There are plenty of NBA guys like that. I believe there was even a list a while back on clutchfans that had a huge list of sports stars with the most illegitimate children. It's not a big deal in the press. It rarely hurts people's image.

Regarding losing ratings...how many people do you think will boycott watching Rockets games because Calvin has that history? Maybe 3. How many more people will tune in every day because Calvin is commentating? A lot more than 3.
