Rudy is going to have to show me that he's willing to bust his ass on a more consistent basis before I would want the Rockets to pick him up.

I'm pretty sure that Gay would play in houston for less money, have any of you guys been to memphis? its terrible out there.

But yet again Gay and Ariza are too similar of players and neither can play the shooting guard as well as McGrady ( a healthy one atleast), although Gay does have better handles than Ariza.

The dunks are just evidence I was laying out because the guy is all about stats and that alone, he could have passed the ball to someone for an open jumper. He is not a team player, has no concept of leadership and lacks BBall IQ. These are all Rox strong suits team ball, smarts players and the players they choose to put on a uniform all have leadership qualities.

I've seen some dumb logic before, but this is tops. The team is down, you're still playing, a guy is under the goal, what are u suppose to do? Finger roll is soft. You go up strong and try to dunk on the guy. If you've played basketball past high school you would know this. Its not like landry is deke or anyone and its not like rudy is shane athletically. You use ur best move and see who wins. Obviously landry won , but has no bearing on iq or leadership.

Well if you would read my post a bit more carefully you would see that aspect of my response was aimed at his desire to rack up stats instead of helping the team. When the Rox where up 20 did you see them going one on one ignoring all there teamates? NO! They kept passing the ball looking for the open man. The defensive was collapsing on him, he could have used that to find an open man which a true team player would have done not just try to see his scoring avg increase. His lack of leadership, BB IQ and being a team player are OBIVOUS to anyone watching him play.

I wouldn't say he lacks BB IQ. I think he plays for a bad team that doesn't play team basketball or defense. I would've loved Gay before but not after we got Ariza for half the price he's going to get. We need a sg and not another sf.

I read your post and watched the game and your logic doesn't matchup with the game. Its not like he took on the whole team. He made a move, got to the rim and landry made a great play by his standards. When u brought up leadership and bbiq, it didn't match.

The guy is averaging almost 21 ppg on practically 50% shooting. If you have a chance to acquire him, you take advantage of it.

Ok then my bad for not being specific...It just gets to me big time when I see isoball and see players not willing to pass, thats my biggest issue with Gay. My statement regarding leadership and bbiq is more a body of work but i'll say he doesn't show me or showed me last night anything that would help me believe he could become or gain those attributes of a great player. I have never seen him dive for a ball, take control of his squad or make a unselfish play when we've played them atleast.

I would rather hand wash all of Karl Malone's vehicles than hear one more thing about Rudy Gay on this bbs.

Only if we can somehow package in Iverson, and Steve Francis too.

The Rockets only pretended to go Gay in the first place, but now Gay could be just what this team needs. Irony

He's making a little over $3 million this year and averaging 21 ppg on 50% shooting. How is that overpaid and overrated? If anything, he's underpaid and underrated.

he didn't use the best logic, but apparently memphis fans' feel this way about Gay, that he plays for stats...i dont see him enough to know if he does or not, but the fans seem to think so.

and i did see Gay stand out on the 3 point line a lot, and i'm not trying to make a connection to shane here, but it's something i noticed because he was always on the side closest to the camera so i kept seeing the back of his jersey. Maybe it was the offense, maybe it was him being passive (which was a knock on him in college), but he hasn't developed a go-to player mentality, at least not consistently, he's going to need that to separate himself from the rest of the 18-20 guys.

Yeah If give us anyone from Memphis, make it Marc Gasol.

Rudy is alright, but at the time I think we made the right move, but now Gay would add a nice spark but 3 years ago we needed ready players to get us to that championship level.
