Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with what he's done with the Sixers it looks like his days are numbered. Would love to have him back in our front office.
Hinkie is an idiot, here's his plan. Lose as many games as you can so you can get the number 1 Pick. Sam, it hasn't worked for 3 years or don't you understand by now the draft is lottery governed by luck.

Hinkie has been tanking for years and has not reaped much of a benefit. That team is not another player or two away from competing. His tanking strategy has tanked.
No idea if true, but coming from SI I highly doubt it. SI hates Hinkie, absolutely hates him. Media politics at its finest.
He's playing the game. Once every 5 years or so a great talent comes, once every decade a generational talent comes. He wants to be there. Hes ignoring the non analytical and paper side; culture, emotions, eeputation, respect. If they went deep in this, stay true to it. Id be upset if they veered off.
Hinkie has been atrocious. He hasn't even tanked properly and he's had multiple shots at figuring it out. Not sure how you can continue to sell his brand of basketball to your fanbase, much less your owner who is paying for the atrocity.
This is a great day for the NBA! The Sixers can start climbing out of the dumpster and act like a real NBA team.
Yeah, just saw that...but saw a previous tweet, where Colangelo states Hinkie gets final decision, after both discussing it
...can't help but think this Okafor mess was the tipping point for managment's toleration of Hinkie's strategy. He's possibly the most talented pick Hinkie has had, but his transgressions have been numerous and almost everyone agrees he was a good kid BEFORE he got thrown into the losers culture in Philly.
I've got a feeling that ownership is about to screw up what Philly is doing. The reality is that in any given year there are only 3-4 teams that have a realistic shot at winning a championship, and the lineups of those teams are made up of the very best in the league. This year it looks like 3, maybe 4 teams have a shot: Cleveland, Golden State, San Antonio and OKC. Let's look at where some of their significant contributors were drafted: Cleveland Lebron - #1 Kyrie - #1 Love - #5 Golden State Steph - #7 Thompson - #11 Barnes - #7 Draymond - #35 San Antonio Duncan - #1 LMA - #2 Leonard - #15 OKC Durant - #2 Westbrook - #4 Ibaka - #24 Bottom line....it takes high picks to get the majority of superstars, and it takes superstars to win. Drafting a superstar gives you up to 9 years of control over the player, including most of their prime. All Hinkie did was acknowledge this and choose to stay out of the middle ground, unlike 80% of NBA teams. That DID NOT guarantee they would find a superstar immediately, but it did give them the best possible chance to get a star player. I can already see Colangelo getting all the credit when Hinkie gets fired next summer, they draft Ben Simmons and then win an NBA championship within 5 years on the back of Hinkie's decision to tank.
