It's ironic that the same thing can be said about JVG last year, but most people here seem to totally discount the well documented 'other things' that happened last year and assume that JVG SUKKKSSSS!!!!11. These are the same people that forgive SF, even though he has won a total of 1 playoff game in his 5 year tenure with the Rockets...and in fact his entire NBA career.
lets go after another player we traded away....i say do it, im down to bring francis back....criticize him all you want, but the guy had heart and loved his teammates and would stick up for them every chance he got...yes to stevie franchise
I have a trade idea that will work for both teams. Trade McGrady for Francis plus NY next year #1. Houston wins because McGrady is 1 bad fall or twist from reinjuring his back which has plagued him throughout his career. We also recive a possible lottery pick from the Knicks. Francis loves Houston and does bring passion to the game. (passion is something we needed last year.) NY wins because Mc Grady gives them a better chance to succeed in the short term ( if he remains healthy) and Thomas can keep his job. But the icing on the cake is that we will have 2 lottery picks to trade to Mempis next year. ( of course we will have to throw in Battier to make the salaries match)

You know what I mean, though. I've been watching just about every Rox game since 1990, and I've never seen an injury plagued season like last year. Sura-gone all year. Barry/Anderson-strained calves from the get-go, Rafer missed the first part of the season, Stro missed quite a few games at first, T-Mac misses most of the season, Yao injures his foot at the end, even Frahm gets hurt when we get him... I understand where you are coming from for sure, but I really think the team should get a "free pass" for last season. I know it's the NBA and injuries happen to every team all the time, but not like that. It's like we were snakebit. I'm not saying that Stevie is a worthless player or anything, he isn't. I just don't see how his style of play fits with a team (any team, not just us) that wants to play an inside/outside game. He's amazing off the dribble, he is a huge competitor, has a big heart, gives his all (when he isn't playing for Larry Brown or upset that Cuttino was gone)...but he isn't a spot shooting player. And his court decisions are extrememly questionable. If he came back, I would welcome him with open arms, as he was a good player for us...I just don't think he fits with Yao very well. He likes the wide open, full court offense and we can't do that with Yao as a centerpiece. He just doesn't have Hakeem's speed
Actually, Francis' first allstar appearance was the year before Yao's rookie season. In the last 2 years, he's been in troubled franchises. Do you remember the season when Francis was out half the time with migraines and we absolutely could not win a single game without him? He was our whole team back then, and it was a decent, near-playoff team. I see no reason why he can't get back to that level of achievement if he's put back into a situation conducive to success.
I find it amaizing that members of this Forum , who are supposed to be Fans of the Houston Rockets would suggest such an idea as bringing Steve Francis back to the Team. Francis had his chance when we selected Yao Ming. He refused during games to support the development of Yaos game, he had selfish motives that were not condusive to the team game of basketball. The Houston Rockets will not improve to a championship level till CD and JVG are gone and Morey learns a thing or two.-[two to four years ] NB I do wish it was otherwise!
There was a post about a week ago in the Feedback Forum from a rookie poster (his name escapes me for the moment and I am too lazy to look up the thread) who was asking how you make a "name for yourself" on this place (I am paraphrasing his words). Well, rookie, I'll give you one example that you do NOT do - post something like this and better yet, don't post it TWICE!!!
I don't like Francis contract and I don't particularly like his game either. It was great in the beginning but it started to get old FAST. But, the things i do like about him have already been mentioned about his heart and desire and passion. I like that he's a rebounding guard as well and drives to the basket, which is opposite of what mcgrady is comfortable doing in this late stage in his career. Think of all the open driving lanes he would have with all the attention given to mcgrady and yao. He'd be a potent 3rd option but he makes too much money and in theory would be a nice fit but hasn't shown anything outside of houston that he's capable any longer.
Sign me up. Won't happen but if it did it might be the only thing to revive Francis' career. And the idea of Yao, McGrady, Battier and Francis on a court together makes me optimistic.
If Steve's contract was the equivelent amount to Juwan Howard's I'd say yes. He's just getting paid too much for what he's worth.
No i dont think it will be beneficial for both parties. Don't forget Francis was traded away because he and van gundy had some philosophical clashes. JVG and SteveF have different oppinions and therefore lead to the T-Mac trade. For sure steve is a solid PG in the NBA, but his style just won't fit in JVG's defense oriented system.
