You are now making more sense than before but your delivery still needs some polishing dude. For example - I doubt very seriously that anyone here was "begging" for Juwan Howard, Jon Barry, Charlie Ward, etc. Then again we do get some bizarre trade proposals but I digress. What I think most people WANTED was someone who could lead the team, get along with his teammates such as getting them involved, and get along with the coach. Francis couldn't do ANY of those 3 although I will give him a mulligan on the last one as it has become painfully obvious that no one can get along with Gumby.
The system is fine, Yao is fine, and McGrady is fine. Starting Howard, Sura, and Jackson was not going to cut it. Starting Wesley, Sura, and Howard is not going to cut it, most likely. This team is not built to win now. Fortunately, Yao and McGrady are both young and probably going to be here for a long time. If we can surrond them with players that can play decent defense and hit WIDE OPEN SHOTS, then this will be a championship team. Have patience, have faith, and don't pine over that loser Francis. I will bet anyone a $100 dollar tip jar donation that the Rockets win 2 titles before Francis wins 1. On the other hand, it would be very nice to get Mobley back. Hopefully we can somehow trade for a resigned Cat in the offseason, maybe throw 8 mil per at him (basically Taylor's salary).
We have no patience. Although we know this is the very first season T-mac and Yao have played together. We wanna see resutls. We wanna see signs that can tell us they are the future of the Rockers. So far, hmm. I haven't seen none of that.
I will bet anyone a $100 dollar tip jar donation that the Rockets will win 2 titles before John Stockton wins 1.
I don't think the McGrady trade was a bad trade, however I really do miss Francis. He made lots of "stupid" decisions, but you never questioned his effort on the floor. He always played 110% and gave it all he had. That would go a long way on this Rocket team.
Ex. The San Antonio game this year and last year. Last year, just from memory, the Roxs have a great shot to win the game with the final possesion, Stevie dribbles and dribbles and shoots up a desperation 3. We lose the game, he played with lot of hustle and fire but we lost. This year, well I won't replay the whole but that is what T-Mac can do and that is the difference. I would do the trade anytime. I love stevies fire and drive but I love T-Mac's talent a hellava lot more.
this year francis did not need 30 seconds that will never happen again he just beat the spurs on his own
I've watched quite a few Orlando games and he is playing better but the X factor is Hill. I give SF his credit but lets not get out of hand.
Hey Sabonis, I'm convinced that you are Yao! Could you do me a favor please? Start throwing F bombs towards Van r****d and show him who's the boss of this team.
Really? Why wouldn't Francis and Mobely come back? They sure would if the following happens: You resign Yao to a mutli-year contract, then Mobely signs for about $6 mill or so with Orlando, then you trade Yao/Juwon Howard straight up for Mobely/Francis. Orlando would never refuse this offer (they want to make more money off Yao), in fact NO team would refuse this offer if they did get it. At same time, you have Francis/Mobely back in Rockets uniforms to play alongside T-Mac, endless fastbreaks and crushing offense with decent defense if we build up the front line with purely defensive players. Of course, JVG would have to be gone by then, that is the wildcard. Still think it is not doable? P.S. this is just for fun, a teaser if you will...
I have always been in the corner of Steve Francis and Cat Mobley. I cant believe that many here still refuse to cut Steve some slack and recognize that what a player brings to the table can not always be seen on the court. I think Steve was a big crutch for Yao to lean on in the media, on the court, and probably in the lockerroom. Yao just has not looked the same to me as last year and the biggest difference is that SF3 is gone. How quickly people forget that some here seriously wanted to trade Steve and Cat for chump change last year, and I mean really sh1tty players. Those guys deserve what they are getting. Now, here is the bigger problem: is Yao going to stay once his K runs out? Think about it, until his contract expires he is going to be stuck with TMac and a bunch or old guys who are getting older. What players can we afford to bring in on the horizon? Who is going to take an over-the-hill-overpaid 4? Which brings me to my next point: the Chinese government is not going to sit by and watch their basketball masiah
...mesiah play his best years on a losing team. Can anyone else see the Chinese gov not allowing Yao to come back to the states and play unless he's traded to..LAL? This is my nightmare and I dont see how we avoid it.
No but JVG apparently shown his type of leadership. Only Napolean or any other big headed person would appreciate the way he is running this team into the ground and going to leave the next coach picking up the garbage.
Exactly. The Chinese government doesn't give a sh$t to where Yao will play. Yao is just a celebrity in a single industry among hundreds of sports industries, which are furher among hundreds of other industries in China. The government on the whole has a lot more important issues at hand than worrying about Yao. If a little branch of Chinese sports bureau like the basketball administering center does care about where Yao will play, wtf can they do? They don't make, interpret or enforce the law. They are no big shots in China. They are just a bunch of low income low level bureaucrats who couldn't do sh$t about Wang Zhizhi refusing to play for China except verbal condemnation. They have even less power on Yao with his fame and money.
What??? I thought their people's congress (is it how they call it over there?) had a daily debate about what Yao should do to improve his stamina...
So you realize the trade was not just T mac for sf?it was a very good player for defense, rebounding, and slashing ability, and heart.that's what we lost when you add cato and cuttino with francis to the mix well maybe iam psycic because i was obvious to me that yao had very bad lateral movement and bad hands and just wasn't tough enough to dominate night in and night out.You can't expect a grown*** man that had never been physical all his life to all of a sudden get ruff with the rest of the league night in and night out. I think thats just an excuse people use to not really give sf full credit.grant hill is not the reason steve is avg 21, 6 ,and 6 its because of sf.When will guys just give him credit straight up?
