The players and coaches do NOT want him back. That is for sure the truth. He has beyond worn out his welcome with them. The sad thing is it looks like they are gonna have no choice but to play him.
Adelman will easily want him back, he's mentioned plenty of times what he can do if they get him healthy.
Poor choice of words, I don't mean every game, but some games every year..... He does not play hard all the time, like the guys we have now... My fault for not being clear enough. DD
Np, I don't really feel like starting an argument but I do agree he doesn't try ALL the time usually in the regular season but I think he tries his hardest during playoff time.
actually, they don't have to play him if he has truly worn out his welcome. if the organization does observe him as bad as you say they do, why bring him back and really mess up the culture of the team, the new direction the young players are taking us, and most likely take minutes away the promising rookies?
Yep, but if he tried hard all the time the team would have a higher seed, and play a lessor opponent in the first round and he would have gotten his team past the first round. Thus - part of the problem. DD
tracy's talent is unquestioned. his problem has always been that when things aren't going his way, he makes poor decisions. or rather, he continues taking on too much of the offensive burden rather than facilitating it and stepping up his d. i fear when he comes back and is not the otherwordly athlete he once was, he'll resort to being a ball-stopping jumpshooter.
Has there been any more footage of him playing ball, or practicing?? His Skillzlab website has no new content, and his personal website has nothing as well. Bill Worrel has not mentioned him recently. What is the deal???
Its not to the point where they would Marbury him is the problem. Its just a tough situation. If he wants to play then they have to play him. Deep down nobody wants him back but he is so talented that you have no option. The best solution would be a trade.
when you hear adelman talk about mcgrady during the portland series last year, you know things can be rectified. he still speaks highly of mcgrady and his basketball IQ. i think the problem with mcgrady last year moreso than anything was that he kept going in and out of the lineup and that really pissed adelman off b/c he doesn't know if mcgrady is going to play. and that's why they're making sure mcgrady will play every game when he does return.
And while commentating, Van Gundy has implied that McGrady's basketball IQ was such that he had problems learning how to defend the pick and roll. Also, have you considered the idea that Adelman may have been speaking highly of McGrady to make him more attractive to other teams?
A LOT of players struggle to defend the pick and roll. have you seen ariza defend the pick and roll? your second commend is so absurd. adelman simply answered a reporter's question on why the offense struggled last year v. portland (no one even brought up mcgrady). if he wanted to make tracy more attractive to other teams, he doesn't have to wait till a reporter ask him a question. BUT HEY, you do know that adelman has publicly criticized mcgrady for being in and out of the lineup last year right? that is kind of contradictory no? i thought you scored highly on that logic test.
How many instances can you think of where Adelman criticized McGrady? Be as specific as you can in regards to the date.
I really can't wait until Tracy comes back to ruin the chemistry this team has. Or the fact that everyone plays hard on both offense and defense all the time. And that everyone buys into the teamwork concept all the time. McGrady has sometime to prove, and that does not coincide with what we are building here. Tracy needs to go, but I don't think there are any takers for any sort of value.
Let the 22million +/- set for the year along with Cook 3.5 +/- at the end of the bench; so we can use the cap space to sign our own free-agents next year. He and Cook have become savings bonds...
