No knock on you for wanting players that are competitive. I must say under RA Tmac played like 70 + games, no entire season, mostly with a bum knee and shoulder. How can you assume that he does not fit? The sample is too small. One has to give him a chance to prove himself. Contractwise I'll hand the card to Morey.
Then leave the charity out of this. You can bash him all you want for his play style, his effort and his attitude, but bashing him for his off-court volunteering services because he did not donate enough to your liking? That's a little pathetic.
When Tracy is whining about his touches, in both years, it tells me he is not comfortable and doesn't fit. This year he says, it is the same offense he ran in Orlando, no, it is not....which shows a lack on his part of understanding his role. Tracy's biggest problem has been that he tries to do too much, if he could tone it down, play off the ball, and play with the same energy and fire as the rest of the guys, he would be much more successful. But after 10+ years, I have serious doubts that he is willing to change, and honestly, he probably feels he should not change, because he has had personal success playing that way. Well, I see it as a lack of character which is an extension of the same lack of character on the basketball court. Listen to him speak...when things are going well it is "I imposed my will on the game" when things are bad it is "We have to get that rebound" It shows a lack of responsibility to me. We shall see....we shall see. DD
Dude, do you even know what Skillzlab is about? educate yourself: http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS118234+24-Jun-2009+BW20090624 You are not criticizing him here - you are more than booing him. You are downright vilifying him beyond rational limits. Anyone neutral to T-mac can see that. Don't cover yourself under this veil of "I'm just criticizing him" you aren't. You are mocking his humanitarian work - that's pretty over-the-top: He took two human rights activists with him and went under the auspices of the U.N. He also is helping to build schools and has gotten other celebrities involved in the Darfur cause. You really are showing something very petty here Dada - c'mon, you know better. Why don't you watch his documentary? Or here - watch the trailer at least before you judge. You make it like the guy is just trying to gain fame but c'mon, are you really that cynical about someone trying to something positive in the world?
I do believe he did it for his image, at his agent's request, IIRC, he even mentioned his agent brought it to his attention. At the end of the day though, it is an honorable thing to do. I give him credit for bringing attention to Darfur, hopefully he can make a difference there and his next team can help as well. DD
It was in a video interview on media day, probably on Rockets.com..... Whatever, just label me a hater....I am down with that.....if it makes you guys feel better just say I am making all this up because of my disdain for his play. Whatever floats your boat. I'll just post "Yawn".....when people are riding his jock, maybe that would be best. DD
He didn't say the offense is like in Orlando , he said the up tempo style is like it was in Orlando and in that style he made a name for him self , when asked if he can play uptempo.

He acknowledged Battier is the leader on this team. Those were all I could find.
I remember him saying something along those lines also. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/6642119.html He said he's excited about the up-tempo style the Rockets will employ because he made a name for himself in a similar style. I'm pretty sure he was talking about his Orlando days.
Ok. To my understanding he's excited to play in a faster pace offense. To DD and others, he returns to his ways of ball-hogging and not passing or sharing the ball.
Fair enough, I have 11 years of evidence of him playing that way and giving lip service to a different style and playing how he likes. What do you have? (edit) crap I forgot my rolly eyes guy... DD
That was quick. Wow. We have a different approach. See. I don't like remembering mistakes of the past or bearing a grudge against anybody. I only view what he did for the Rockets, particularly under Adelman. He might be the superstar in Orlando, might get frustrated with Weisbrod and might wanted to be traded as Kobe did. Nobody cares. He had a good half a year partly leading the Rockets to a winning streak with barring nagging injuries and 30 what games playing injured and out of shape again. He was slow and held on to the ball too much last year but the year before he was playing pretty well. Grover said he might get to the Tmac better than that Tmac of the streak with the injuries. That's not unrealistic.
Ok, both years he has b****ed about not getting his touches in Adelman's offense. So much so in year one that they had to scrap the offense until Tmac went down with his yearly Christmas time injury and Adelman ran the offense anyway.... Clearly we view it differently. I hope he does come back healthy for his own good and the good of the Rockets. However, I believe a leopard does not change his spots and it would be beneficial to trade him...especially if he is healthy because his style is not conducive to winning basketball, IMO..... I think Tmac NEEDS the ball to be effective and when he doesn't have it in his hands he struggles...... But overall, I think you nailed the differences...... It is the "Glass is half full" people vs. the "Glass is half empty" people. DD
I sure believe Tmac of last year was not conducive to winning. I agree with you on that. Also agree with you on the leopard does not change its spots however, is Tmac a leopard? I think he's rather a chameleon, a basilisk that could change its color at any given moment. Sometimes he says that, then he says other things. He's unpredictable. I just don't like people bashing on somebody who is injured. It can be Yao or Shane or Chase. I would stand up for Chase anytime.
He does b****. I know. Have you never come across guys who b****? That does not mean he is a bad teammate or a bad employee. Also I never remembered him b**** all the time. He said some things once or twice and that was anything but wise. Yes I give you that. He's a talker. That you cannot change. The thing is the character you can't change but can you change his game? That is a whole other story. You have every right to dislike him as a person but to say that he cannot change his game at all. I don't believe that. Obviously he scored 30 in Orlando. When he came to Houston and had to share touches with Yao, I really remembered him being satisfied with the fact that he could get out of the first round which could have happened. It was very close. He did everything he could to get out of the first round. He's just not meant to be a great talker or somebody who is everybody's darling.
