At this stage of his career, Weber is a defender/playmaker. He's not an off the ball player. He doesn't read the floor off the ball. He only knows how to play on the ball offense. Everybody, including MDA, should understand this. If we're going to get positive productivity out of Weber with Paul out, then MDA needs to hold his nose and give the man the ball. Right now, with Paul out, and when Harden sits, MDA is giving Gordon the ball. That's a mistake. Gordon is scorer. He's not a distributor. He doesn't see the floor that way. He can create for himself, but he cannot create offense for the team. MDA has the two players reversed. If you're not going to give the basketball to Briante then he shouldn't be out there. You're playing 4 on 5 offense. By the same token if you're going to have Gordon run the offense we might as well turns the lights out and go home. When you compound the problem by having Gordon initiate with Weber on the wing we have no chance for success. It's up to MDA to figure it out here. But Weber is a quality NBA player. He's a great defender and he's a decent playmaker. The hair has become a distraction.....to him. He needs to cut it. It's affecting his game and movement. Needs to cut it short. And he needs to be given the basketball when neither Harden nor Paul are on the court.
this would be interesting to see. i'm sure at some point they'll do so, when they have a big lead against someone. i think since it was in a tight game against OKC, he wasn't just going to give him the green light right off the bat. But even so, he still needs to develop his three point shot better, so perhaps, they are forcing him to grow there first.
So true. Gordon is a pro version of my son: likes to dribble but lacks court vision. No, no, no. If he cuts his hair, the Philistines will capture and blind him.
If you go back to bev’s 1st year in the league he was just as reluctant. Pat put in amazing work in the offseason and turned himself into a threat from 3 point range.
Yes he needs to develop his shot. But that ain't happening mid-season. Developing his shot is something he needs to do over next summer. You gotta accept him for what he is right now. Don't try to make him a spot up shooter during the season. That's foolish. Play to his strengths now. Work on his weaknesses during the off season.
if i recall well first several games Beverley actually killed it from 3 pt range and bill and bull wondered if its sustainable
Ugggggggggggghhhhhh wow a steal oh and he got an assist to Anderson oh that just knocks my socks off my feet man the thunder stop guarding him like I said a waste of space on the floor clearly you didn't watch the game if all you saw was a steal which my grandmother can get lucky and get lol get out of here
3 tripples in 6 mins, not bad. If he can start hitting 3's at a decent rate, I see no reason why he can't be our new PatBev. The way Brainte defends is remarkably similar to Bev, only difference is Briante's about 20 pounds lighter (and a bit quicker because of it), but he's still a dog just like Bev, he has that hustle and heart on the floor, the defensive intensity, the instincts and the quick hands.
