Agreed he should be compensated if he was asked and refused to throw games , but that's not what the lawsuit is about. Obviously Ross made a mistake hiring Flores.

As far as the racial stuff goes, I might agree with you if Ross hadn't hired Greir/McDaniels.

There's an old saying, don't think about how a person is when you hire them, think about how they will be if you have to fire them. This saying applies to all new hires regardless of race.

The NFL has opened an investigation into allegations that the Cleveland Browns provided incentives to then–head coach Hue Jackson to lose games during the 2016 and ’17 seasons.

In an emailed statement, the league confirmed that former SEC chair Mary Jo White, of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, is leading an independent probe into allegations made by Jackson in February. “The review is ongoing and is expected to conclude soon,” wrote an NFL spokesperson.

White has also been hired by the league to investigate the Miami Dolphins in light of Brian Flores’s claim that he was offered $100,000 per loss by owner Stephen Ross during the 2019 season.

Reached by Sports Illustrated for comment, Jackson said, “Two years ago I tried to do this the right way, through the bylaws and constitution of the National Football League, to ask them to investigate the Cleveland Browns for all the allegations that I’ve made. So why open an investigation now?”

A Browns spokesperson sent the following statement: “Even though Hue recanted his allegations a short time after they were made, it was important to us and to the integrity of the game to have an independent review of the allegations. We welcomed an investigation and we are confident the results will show, as we’ve previously stated, that these allegations are categorically false. We have fully cooperated with Mary Jo White and look forward to the findings.”

Holding a Zoom meeting from her new mega Yacht, Mary Jo White noted that this investigation will be done fairly and in a timley fashion, using the current replay system. But Anything that is not a judgement call cannot be reviewed. She also indicated that if a whistle was blown, after which nothing can be reviewed under NFL replay policy.

The pearl clutching and anger about this is weird.

Tanking is an open secret and largely accepted practice in pro sports.

The NFL has held onto the idea that they're immune to the practice for far too long.

If owners want to lose, they're going to find a way to do it, be that incentivizing failure or punishing success.

This is what happens when you introduce gambling into the league. Now tanking changes from a tolerated practice to an integral threat to the gambling markets.

Jackson probably refused to work with the NFL because that would be like giving them your ammunition for the federal case. There is no way the NFL would rule in his favor on the tampering. We all know teams tank. It isn't a sin. They likely did it. And nobody is going to admit it publicly, although they should be able to do so. The Feds are forcing teams to lie about it when we wall know they do it. It's a game of look the other way.

Easy solution to avoid lawsuits is to stop hiring minority HC's.

    An uncomfortable truth.
