Yeah no kidding. You heard it a lot from management about Redding, but about Lane and Ward you heard it from *everybody*. I got tired of hearing about it.

I've thought that Cush should've won it a couple of times already, but hasn't won one yet. Its cool though because week in and week out he's in the voting. He can just miss it every week and I'm ok with that.

Given how much he's meant to the D, he is a much larger impact to us than those other rooks are. If we keep playing the way we are and make the playoffs, this guy should be DROY. Its crazy too because while I wasn't disappointed with the pick, McClain got me amped up for Matthews. I sure am glad Smith and Kubes seem to know what they're doing.

This post just makes me sad. Only the pile of crap that is the Astros farm system would we have such players be considered "poster childs" for potential.

Anyway, Cushing is just plain awesome. Performed beyond my wildest expectations.

Wow, and he did it over Byrd who had two more INTS to bring his total to 7.

Actually, back when those guys were coming through the system was among the very finest in all of baseball.

Those two became "poster children for potential" when it became obvious that they weren't going to cut it on the ML level despite their 5-star status as "prospects". Ward had a sweet, sweet, swing and a lot of power; Lane was an MVP on every level of the minors.

Every MLB franchise has a bag of names like that, by the way. It's not exclusive to the Astros; it's part of the deal.

Way to go, Cushing. It's funny...in this past draft it seemed like Cushing was almost the forgotten man amongst Texans fans. We were all salivating over the prospect that a guy like Barwin could be an outstanding edge rusher, or that James Casey could supplant Owen Daniels and play every position on the field, or that Caldwell could finally give us some consistency and quality play at center.

And the guy people weren't talking about all that much because most of us saw the pick coming, Cushing, is the one dominating. Great job, Kubes and Rick Smith. You guys definitely made the right choice.

Congrats to Cushing, again. I'll certainly admit to not being crazy about picking him in the draft. I have never enjoyed a plate of crow more.

Wow! Dude has been been awesome for this team. Great pick.

This defense is really coming around after that atrocious start.

"The last rookie to win multiple weekly NFL awards was Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month twice in 2007. Peterson was a consensus choice for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year that season."

"Cushing is the only AFC rookie to win a weekly award in 2009. Cushing joins quarterbacks Tom Brady of the New England Patriots, Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints and Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings as the only players in the NFL to win a weekly honor twice this season."

    Boy, that's telling.
