Brian Cushing interview on NFL network (Around the League) http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/09000d5d822a6929/Cushing-We-re-hungry He hungry! Also on Inside the NFL, Chris Collingsworth, Warren Sapp, and Phil Simms all picked us to beat the Steelers.
sheesh, ever since Cushing got caught with PED's hes been MIA..havent seen much from him out there in games
He has actually been very productive in the middle. The ILBs in a 3-4 scheme don't get the same spotlight as the outside rushers. The Texans don't have a stud NT that the ILBs need to really shine in a 3-4. Cush and Ryans have been very solid in their play on the inside.
Of course he must be MIA when youre watching a game that doesnt involve the Texans. Put it on ABC next time.
The whole PEDs issue with Cushing is stupid. Look, Cushing was caught taking stuff to mask the effects of coming off steroids. In week freakin' one! I'm not saying Cushing never did steroids, because he shows signs of it. What I am saying is that he was caught with something that is used to mask effects of coming off steroids. It is more unreasonable, because of this, to assume that he has done steroids in the NFL than he has not done them in the NFL, in my opinion. I would venture to guess that if he did them, it was in college and right before the scouting combine. Yes, that's wrong, but he would have had little to no boost in production from that. The rookie season was the real deal. Nothing helps you gain an edge in the instincts department, and Cushing showed a ton of that his rookie year. Also, he has been playing hurt his entire career up until now. I don't know what games people have been watching, but Cushing is playing great. I guess because he's not blitzing a ton, which leads to no sacks, people think he sucks. He's beeb making tons of plays so far this year. He has that genuine fire and tenacity that you can't coach, too. Him, Watt, and you could say Antonio Smith, have those motors that don't quit, and that makes our defense exciting.
On Cushing: the man has been playing really inspired football so far this season. It seems like he's in on every tackle! It's really reassuring to me to see this type of play from him in the face of all the criticism he was receiving for his PED controversy. On the Steelers: I don't see their offense moving the ball on us. That's not to say we have a shutdown defense or anything but I think our DC is competent enough to exploit the weaknesses in their O line and we have enough talent defensively to, at the least, limit the production of their offense. Our offense is clicking and our all-pro runningback is returning which should put it at an even higher level and, hopefully, ease our red zone issues. We should be able to make enough plays on offense to win this game. Prediction: Texans - 24 Steelers - 10
Not sure if serious, but I was wondering if the HCG he tested positive for had something to do with this HCG diet that keeps popping up on billboards up here in North Texas.
he hasnt made any big plays, like a sack or cause a fumble or anything, but he is leading the texans in tackles.
I loved it when Cush laid out Ingram at the LOS. He has been our best player along with Antonio Smith.
In that interview, he said that he's the one making the calls on defense this year. I liked it better when 'Meco called the plays and told Cush where to go and where to be. Hopefully, Cushing takes to the Mike position and becomes a terror as he grows more accustomed to the role. It'd be great to have some play makers at each level of the defense. DL: Smith and Watt LB: Cushing and Williams Secondary: Joseph and Manning
Got to love all the folks that are still super-eager to make the roids knock anytime they see his name. Don't let the fact that you don't follow the game stop you!
Cush on steroids was a Ray Lewis caliber player. All-Pro and one of the best LB's in the game. It's nice to see him still be a solid player off the juice. While he's not the game changer he once was, I would say that he's a borderline pro-bowler.
I don't doubt for a minute that players like Ray Lewis, Lawrence Taylor and other notable line backers took some form of PED's at some point in their career.
Cush served his time.. and lost a bunch of $$$ in the process.. it's not like he was out killing dogs or anything. I'm sure he's been tested a few times since so it's good to see any positive improvement after last year... He's still a Texan. No need to knock him while he's down. I'm sure he get's enough of it from other fans. It's a new system and I'm sure he'll improve even more with more playing time.
