He's moving up on several people, including Phil Niekro and possibly Nolan Ryan, in wins. Win Leaders He'll pass up Steve Carlton for second in strikeouts sometime soon, only needs about twenty. Strikeout Leaders
Is Clemens the best pitcher of all time? Considering the era in which he played he, in my opinion, is...
That will be sweet to have the top 2 strikeout leaders working in our organization for years to come. So he has a chance of possibly moving into top 10 in wins this year, although it would take a GREAT season. He'd definitely get there if he decided to pitch another year.
I know individual records don't mean a lot. and the team is most important. That being said... seeing the names Roger has a chance to pass soon is pretty exciting.
Damn I missed today's game! What time was it? Oh well, I watched the Mavs lose today.....That made my day! I clicked on the Power Rankings on ESPN.com and this is what I got: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/poweralley I was like, WTF?! Giants ranked #1?! They are below .500!!!! Then I looke carefully, and read the Astros ranking, and it talked about wagner. Seems that they haven't updated their site in a long time. Not since September.
Yeah that happens sometimes, but if you reload or go back to the page again, the problem corrects itself. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1781982
Well that was a good series. Oswalt was dominant, bats came alive yesterday, and Roger pitched great today. Those two plays back to back by Berkman today were excellent. It seems everything is clicking right now, wait to go Astros!
I'd be shocked if he doesn't come back next year. He's obviously still a dominating pitcher and playing at home must be nice.
arkoe.. probably so. I may be wrong, but I don't remember him ever saying "back for one more year" in his press confrences etc. that is what gives me hope. Now if we were to win the world series this year.. I could see him and a lot of other players retiring on this team.
I don't either. God forbid an injury, I think he's back next year. Not to mention the fact that the Astros pretty much let him come and go as he pleases whenever he's not starting.
On a side note, they showed a blurb in the game today saying that Clemens could be the first pitcher over 41 years old to win 11 games and have a winning percentage of over .500 in a half century. I'm citing these numbers from memory, so if I'm off feel free to correct me.
I know that can't be right. Nolan Ryan: Age 41 - 12-11 .522% Age 42 - 16-10 .615% Age 43 - 13-9 .590% Age 44 - 12-6 .666%
Clemens is awesome...It seems when he's on the mound, he brings everyone's game up...I wish that would translate to when everyone pitches, but it's still too early... Go Stros!!!
it is rather amusing reading the excuses from the Cubs fans on their mlb.com forum "they didn't do anything to improve their offense! same old team! its early! blah blah blah excuse excuse excuse we're only 2.5 games back excuse excuse" well yes it IS early, but the Astros are doing what is expected of them, the Cubs are not as far as our hitting: Run differential Astros +39 Cubs +3
I knew it sounded off when I posted it. If anyone does remember what I'm talking about, please correct me.
