Kubiak said more names will become available in the next day or two. With that statement, I believe he is hinting that Rosenfels might be released and we're picking him up. I wouldn't mind him backing up Yates.
Translation: We will bring in a has-been and take a few weeks to get him familiar with the offense. In the meantime, it's the rookie's job to lose.
Its evident that the football gods want this, and will strike down a starting qb a week until it happens

If you are looking at 40 year old QB's that went pro in the mid 90's then you may as well give Favre a call. It makes no sense not to if you are bringing in other old QB's.
Except Delhomme and Garcia are probably fine to sign on in a backup role. Favre is not coming out of retirement unless he is guaranteed to start.
we're 8-3, but our QB and our QB's backup are now out for the rest of the season. the team makeup on the offensive side of the ball is very different now with a rookie at QB. we're going to be forced into a very simplistic offense and teams are going to make TJ Yates beat them. i'm not entirely comfortable with that. i don't see any reason not to give Favre a look unless he flat out says he can't/won't play. he's every bit as good an option as Jeff Garcia or Jake Delhomme.
If he's every bit as good as Garcia or Delhomme, I'd rather have Garcia or Delhomme. They don't bring a "circus" with them and they won't demand to start. Not to mention money. I don't know how it works in the NFL at this stage in the season. Would anyone we sign just get the vet's minimum?
I'd rather see Yates run the offense. Kubiak has already said he's not going to dumb it down for him unless we get a lead that the defense can keep like we did on Sunday. He doesn't really need to. He's been practicing it all year long, unlike any of these old fossils being brought in this week. I'd rather take my chances with Yates (or even Sage) running the offense than have Fart come here and start ignoring the playbook, drawing up plays in the dirt and throwing into triple coverage. Keep letting the defense win games. (still feels really weird saying that....)
If the goal is to win a SB then do you really want a rookie ay QB? If the team is looking to bring anyone in as a backup to a unheralded rookie QB then I think that's a mistake, if they really have plans to compete for a SB. That's just dumb. Now if you just want to hold onto the division and make the playoffs, I guess so.
