Just think of what may have happened if the trade was the other way around and the Falcons would have traded for him. Vick could have been a Packer and got busted for illegal ice fishing.
Is there a reason Favre and the Packers didn't announce this a bit more "ceremoniously" ? Chris Mortensen's voicemail ?
And now for some absolutely stunning news... not. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-favre4apr04,1,260934.story
Agreed, can't see the Packers taking the PR hit from trading him. Favre wants to play, that much is obvious. But in the end, I think it'll be the Packers or no one. He made a knee-jerk, emotional reaction to the Packers not going after Moss. The question is, would he swallow his pride, admit his mistake and go back to Green Bay? We'll see.

WTF? They were in the NFC championship WITHOUT Moss...... They are a fine up and coming team, if Favre bailed on them over that he is making a massive mistake. DD
I almost posted this a few hours ago, but decided to confirm it. The "not" part is right...at least according to his agent. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3327555 Brett Favre's agent has shot down a published report that the Green Bay Packers quarterback, who announced his retirement last month, could be weighing a comeback with another team. The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed NFL sources, reported that Favre's agent, James "Bus" Cook, had quietly inquired with teams about their interest in trading for the 38-year-old veteran. But Cook, asked about the report, told ESPN, "That is absolutely false. Absolutely false, and you can quote me on that." Cook was quoted in The Times story that any word of Favre's interest in continuing his career was "news to me." "I don't think that has anything to do with anything. He's retired, period, point blank," Cook told The Times. Favre announced his retirement on March 7, saying he was mentally and physically drained. But he has yet to file his paperwork with the NFL, and his rights still belong to the Packers, who could trade him to another team. The Times reported that according to league sources, Favre's decision to retire was partially influenced by his frustration that the Packers didn't make a more aggressive attempt to sign wide receiver Randy Moss in 2007 or 2008. But Cook denied any link between Moss and Favre's decision to retire, according to The Times. "As far as Randy's deal with New England, there were never any negotiations with Green Bay," he said, according to the report. "As far as I know, Brett retired because he was tired and burned out."
I know some will think I am crazy or just a plain ignorant sports fan. But what is the big deal about Moss. He is the best WR in the game today and just had record setting 23 TD season, but how many Super Bowls has he won? How old is he again? How many other all-pro receivers could put up gaudy number (maybe not quite as good as Moss) in the Pats offense and go all out even the score is out of reach?
Not that many. The Pats didn't really have a single marquee receiver, for all their great seasons, until this past year. He hasn't won a Super Bowl, but football is a team game. By the way, Pimp, I'm not saying I necessarily think the agent is lying -- but if the agent is doing it quietly, as the LA Times report suggests -- of course he'll deny it. If Favre were to come back, it would be a very sensitive issue from a PR perspective on so many levels. So, if he really does want to come back, I imagine he and his team are trying to put out feelers to see who would be interested and construct possible scenarios.
i figured the retirement announcement was a i'm retiring from this game I love....*sob, sniffle*...see how it hurts me...cuz I still have passion for this game, if you can see that..but... then its aaaawe Brett you dont HAVE to go...we could help but it sounds like you made up your mind, soo ... "wait, what..."help"?"
maybe some could get close but he did turn them into the highest scoring offense in history, and the team that was #1 was the vikings with randy moss. and daunte culpepper looked like a pro-bowler when he had randy moss to throw to. going by results he's as good as they get.
Maybe not... http://tsn.ca/nfl/story/?id=242286&lid=sublink01&lpos=headlines_main GREEN BAY, Wis. - Brett Favre is considering coming out retirement, according to an ESPN report. ESPN's Chris Mortensen says a Green Bay Packers source told him the 38-year-old Favre told coach Mike McCarthy in the past two weeks that he has the itch to play. The Packers' former quarterback retired March 6 after a 17-year career. Cornerback Al Harris said on ESPN's NFL Live that Favre also made similar comments to him. "I know he has the itch to come back and play," Harris said. "If he will or not, I don't know."
