Ill believe it when I see it. This announcement means nothing to me. Like Olajuwon told Mutombo; if you have something left to give you give it.

Yeah, but I still think in Favre's case, he made such a significant impact on the identity of the franchise that he deserves to be recognized in his own right without being in the shadow of those guys. He wasn't just one of the faces - he *was* the franchise. Everybody else was just part of the rest of the gang, even the coaches. I can't think of a single sports figure who single-handedly defined his team as much as Brett Favre did Green Bay.

    Michael

    Jordan

who were the Bulls before him?

    who were they after him?

the entire history of that franchise is like BC and AD. before mike and after mike.

The Bulls shouldn't even exist without Jordan. They should've just shut down the entire organization. It's all downhill from there...

Michael Jordan. Ted Williams. Wayne Gretzky. Don Shula.

    Not professional, but Joe Paterno.

So he's ending his career winless in Texas Stadium? How sad... ;)

Michael Jordan and possibly Wayne Gretsky is the only two on this list that could be correct answers.

And even then, he still had Scottie Pippen. And Phil Jackson. Jordan just happened to be the G.O.A.T., and his association with the Bulls franchise was mostly a by-product of his personal athletic dominance.

Favre had Reggie White, Sterling Sharpe, Dorsey Levens, and Mike Holmgren was the coach.

Reggie White is more significant to NFL history than Pippen is to NBA history.

I think Michael Jordan is the clear leader in franchise players in history. If someone were to ask me to name the most famous Green Bay Packer, I'd pause whether it was Lombardi or Favre. With the Bulls it isn't even a debate.

I bet he ends up doing so. There already are reports that he thought the Packers didn't want him back anyway.

I'll believe it when the coin flips for the first Packers game and Favre isn't in a uniform.

How about the likes of Babe Ruth of Mickey Mantle?

Its sad news, I loved watching Farve play.

At least he went out as an elite NFL qb. Always leave 'em wanting more.

He will be remembered always as one of the greats. I personally would have loved to see Favre return one more season and make a run at the Super Bowl. The Packers have a strong team, and it would have only been stronger had he returned. He obviously decided he had enough though, and was brave enough to walk away from the game he loves. He leaves the game on his terms. Thanks for all the great memories Brett, you will always be favorite QB I have ever seen played considering his career accomplishments. I will always cherish my Favre jersey and Favre Fathead on my wall.

To Packers fans, good luck this upcoming season, the first in 16 years without Favre.

That's because the majority of the Bulls sucked, and folks generally minimize the contributions of MJ's teammates. I think folks associate other athletes with teams just as much as they do with MJ and Chicago (Magic-LA, Bird/Russell-Bos, Elway-Den, Marino-Mia, Ripkin-Bal, Babe-NY, etc).

Back on topic, Farve had a great final season...until it was time to go to the SB. His last game was pretty bad but he had a great career and is arguably the GOAT at his position.

    This donkey balz sucker?

    JK dude. ;)

I used to hate him, but the dude was an awesome player. I grew to actually like him. The game will definitely be a little less fun without him.
