I really like watches and would like my next watch to be a Navitimer with a black face and brown leather strap. Too bad its not going to happen for quite some time.

I've had a Superocean for about 10 years - it broke once. Was expensive to fix, about $600.

It's an OK watch and it still looks cool, but I don't know if I'd buy another Breitling ever.

Omega Seamaster is good enough to fill that role and for cheaper (and more reliable).

I have to say my watch could kick the ass of any of the fancy-boy watches mentioned in this thread... might have some trouble with the Turtles though.

i have a tag link watch and the bezel fell off. and the place i brought the battery to be replaced said something is wrong with the "pin" on the side. anyways what do you guys think that would cost to get fixed? im kind of scared to send it to tag to find out.

I think luxury watches are one thing that will soon be behind us. We're so digitized these days, it's only a matter of time (and I don't mean we'll be wearing digital watches).

Idk about that. My cousin has watches that are worth more now than at the time he bought it at. He has a all black Rolex that I love.

To be honest, I rock a fake Breitling (white face) sometimes that I got from my brother. Breitling watches aren't too gaudy so I don't think its as bad as wearing cubics or something. I get a lot of compliments on it but usually tell people that its a fake.

I wouldn't wear it though if my pimp Wittnauer (Bulova) didn't get jacked. It had a 34 diamond bezel. Freaking $900 watch gone!

I don't think I could spend that much money on a watch, especially if I'm having to sell stuff to get it... damn. But.... it's your money and if you think you can swing it, go for it.

I just joined the thread to to say I still remember the time I was pumping gas at an Exxon and a couple of guys jumped out of a Chrysler and tried to sell me a "Breitling". I would've died laughing, but decided not to laugh because I thought they'd kill me. Funny, that.

Watches are jewelry. Look at how much women will spend on purses, ear rings, bracelets and necklaces. There aren't that much accessories a guy can buy, and watches are one of them. That said, I wouldn't buy a watch that's worth more than $200 myself (I actually keep it mostly under $100) but that's because I tend to lose things quite easily. That and the fact that unless you're a certain income bracket, you wearing it more for other people than yourself.

I tend to ding up watches, so I'd have a hard time spending that much money on a watch.

The bezel is platinum. The reason I like it is because its not YELLOW GOLD and flashy (diamonds). Plus the dial glows in the dark :p

Do you know of a better watch for $9k?

First, I like Breitlings in general, however, I would not pay a lot of money for a quartz watch. You might as well use your phone. I love automatic watches, though.

Second, with regard to "you pay for the name with a Rolex but quality with Breitling"... someone please correct me if I'm wrong but Breitling automatic watches use Eta movements. Those are great movements (soon to be unavailable to watchmakers outside the Swatch Group) but a TON of watches use those movements. Rolex makes their own movements and they are pretty good. So you do pay for the Rolex name (for most people that is the ONLY watch that comes to mind when they think "expensive") but they also make a very good watch as well.

That "Rolex" you bought in Times Square is not real.
