2025 is Urquidy's last arbitration year and will miss all of 2025 so they'll just release him and save the 3.75 million. Good luck to Urquidy in 2026.

I could see Houston working out a 2 year deal with Urquidy (like $1M in 2025 with a $3M team option for 2026). It’s unlikely, but it might work for both sides. Just depends on how much of a 40 man crunch Houston expects to have next season.

I think that would work, if they think he'll be useful in 2026. If he's on the 60 day IL, I don't think he would count towards the 40 man roster.

Would you swap out Urquidy for someone like Blubaugh next season?

Not sure what you mean. Houston already has 5 good SP lined up for next season (Framber, Brown, Blanco, Arrighetti, Garcia), so Urquidy is pretty superfluous. He might be a non-tender or trade candidate even if he were healthy. But if they can work out a really cheap 2 year deal to line him up as a quality depth (6th/7th) starter for 2026 it might be worth it. They don’t really have to do anything to replace Urquidy in 2025.

I'm still hoping they offer him 2yrs/$4M and let him rehab and pitch 2026 + possibly last part of 2025.

Dependable starting pitching is hard to find

Urquidy is the franchise leader in WS wins and been an absolute ace in the World Series.

    5 games, 2 games started, 3-0, 14.2 IP, 2 ER, .818 WHIP. 9.2 K/9IP.

Good chance he’s gone, but he will be fondly remembered as an Astro.

Altuve seeing his old teammates from the good Ole time leaving. Springer, Correa, and now Bregman.

If they think we will be better without Bregman next year the front office is crazy. I love Crane and the Astros but come on. We have been on an unprecedented run of playoff success. All that extra playoff money. When I go out in the city I see Astros gear everywhere. I don't wanna hear they don't have the money for Bregs. Sit down with the man and figure it out.

If Bregman had anyone other than Boras I’d be optimistic. Idk man.

How many years do you want to give Bregman? Pre Covid Bregman isn't coming back. OPS is in decline. Hey, he did ground into a lot fewer double plays this year! Of course, Daiz and Pena collected those for him.
